ipod hook up
I am looking for the best way to hook up my ipod to my radio with navigation. I have heard of some that let you use the screen, and steering wheel controls.

Re: ipod hook up
I'm guessing getting crazy and using the 'Search' feature might yield some results...

Re: ipod hook up
Kenwood makes an iPod adaptor. Not sure if you need a Kenwood deck (which I have) or if it can be used with other brand decks (IE: Pioneer, etc). I have the iPod adaptor running from the rear of my deck, behind my center consol, and coming out in under my arm rest thing. That way my iPod is in there and out of the way.
I also have a steering wheel control adaptor. So that my iPod, stereo, CDs, etc, can be operated with steering wheel. Very handy.
Both items cost me $180.

Why not? Just buy the steering wheel adaptor.

Re: ipod hook up
Theres no fm modulator out there that will give you total control of your ipod from the steering wheel. With a hard wire modulator(meaning connected to the rear of your stereo) you can control the volume of your ipod, but you cannot select songs from the wheel. The source on your radio would be either FM1 or FM2 and usually it would be tuned to 89.1. Its also preferrable to have a toggle switch in the center consol to enable the signal for the ipod. I ran the fm modulator from my radio to my ipod into the center console with about 16inches of extra wire. Sounds great and when connected it charges the ipod even if the truck is off.
I dont recommend wireless fm modulators due to the fact that it sounds ****ty.
Good luck.

Re: ipod hook up
Mine is hardwired to my stereo deck...like you, I think the wireless ones sound like crap.
However, I can not only adjust the volume but I can also choose songs on my iPod through my steering wheel controls.
