2007 Factory Navigation Installation
I'm back after a year. I traded my 2004 H2 on a car last January. I recently bought a 2007 H3 and kept the car.
My H3 has just about everything except the factory navigation radio, and I want that. I checked with the dealer today about swapping the 6 CD Monsoon unit for the factory navigation radio and learned that it could not be done. The 2006 models swapped out easily, but according to the dealer there is some difference in the 2007 radio system and the 2007 navigation radio is not available. The 2006 navigation radio will not work. Confirmed this with the parts guy at Lynch Hummer.
Has anyone replaced their 2007 6 CD Monsoon system with a factory navigation radio? If so, how did you do it and what is the part number? Any ideas about what I can do other than get a Garmin?

Factory NAV is not that great. IMO you should look at some other after markets if you really want it in dash. I think Pioneer makes a good one.
We have factory NAV in the H2 and we now have a Garmin.... if that tells you anything. Actully, we have 2 Garmins... Great product.

Re: 2007 Factory Navigation Installation
I don't know about installing the factory NAV, seems like it shouldn't be a big deal since you can order the truck with it.
My dealer wanted $2500 to put in a factory NAV in my '06 after they came out.
I put in a Pioneer AVIC-D2 for less than $1000, and I'm really happy with it. Rumor is new AVIC-D3 will be less than $1000 and have more features if you can wait a couple of months.
Good luck.

Re: 2007 Factory Navigation Installation
Have the Pioneer AVIC D2 installed in my 06 H3 after the drama of the interface issues and the chime module adapter. Get a adjunnt unit like Garming the maping updates are current and does not affect other features. Its also portable to other family vehicles and when you resell no big deal.

Re: 2007 Factory Navigation Installation
I agree that Garmin is the best available. The only problem with the Garmin units is that they must be installed on the dashboard, in plain view. The locals do not observe the Eighth Commandment. I wanted an "in dash" unit because I dislike having to sit on broken glass while driving home.
Does the Pioneer unit work with all the OnStar features like the cell phone?

If you use the appropriate adapter, you don't lose any of the onstar functions, including the cellular phone. I don't use Onstar (although I did put the adapter in), so I can't address the alternator whine that others have mentioned in other threads.
My reason for going with indash was the same as yours, why leave something sitting on top of the dash (even if just the bracket) that will make some crack addict want to break your window.
