I know there have been quite a few posts about adjusting the torsion bars to minimize the rake
of the H3. I'm seriously thinking of making this adjustment. I know that I need to jack up the front end, turn the torsion bar adjustment bolts 2-2.5 times clockwise and that I need to have it alligned after making the adjustment (I have to do this before feb.8 to get the free allignment from the dealership).
for those of you that have already done this, what do you really think about this adjustment of the torsion bars? 2 or 2.5 turns?
It certainly looks better but, what about wear and tear. Is it a pretty easy adjustment to make. I'm a huge "Moab Freak" (off-road enthusiaste)I really am curious how this might affect wear and tear or performance?
Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've gone about 10,000 miles since I've done it and not noticed any problems on or offroad. Never to Moab though.

Is the free alignment standard from all dealers or a special from this particular one?

It should be free at all dealerships for six months form the day of purchase.

Something occured to me. For those of you that have done the adjustment. What did it do to the headlight alignment? Is the oncoming traffic getting pissed?

I think I can see better now ( 2-1/2 turns ) Have had no one flash there brites yet. Very easy to do,, jack up the front end with a floor jack ,, get tires off the ground, mark the adjustment bolt with a marker and turn clockwise your desired turns. 2 turns is about 1 inch,, 2-1/2 turns about inch and a quarter. Theres pics on other posts that can help you too. Good Luck

I thought the headlights being higher made for better visability. If they need adjusted down, there is a adjustment just behind the grill. it would be real simple.

Well it's done!
I made the adjustment, 2.5 turns. Took it to the dealership for it's 7000 mile allignment and free detail.
It looks much better! and seems to drive the same. very easy! I deffinately recommend this adjustment!

Since I am dropping mine off Monday to get marker lights and DVD installed, do you guys think I should ask them to adjust mine? Or should I just do it and never say anything. I recall a post about this stating that if the dealer does it there can't be any warranty issues.

I had the delaer adjust my torsion bars and other than the bounce in the front end being slightly more, it has not affected anything. I drove an H1 for years, so any ride is smoother. The dealer also realigned the vehicle for free as it was "pulling a little"

How much is the dealer charging to install the marker lights?

How many turns were made to the torsion bar bolts.

I would have to go through the paperwork as it was worked into the purchase. As I recall, we negotiated something like $600 or $650 installed. Don't think you could get that price after purchase but as I said, it was worked into the deal.

I am curious about it too. I want to raise the front a little but don't want to effect the ride much if any. I am thinking maybe 1 to 1 1/2 turns would help the looks.

Most are turning 2 to 2 1/2 with good results.

I have also heard mentioned that if you raise the front end and have a sunroof you will get some buffeting wind noise. You get the same noise if you open the sunroof past the point where it initially stops. What I do to get rid of it is crack the back windows maybe 1 inch. Has anyone that has adjusted the torsion bar and has a sunroof experienced this or tried cracking the windows to get rid of the noise? I know I am not going to like it raised if I always get this additional wind noise.
