Default Viper SST 5900 Alarm Shut Off With Out Remote..

Can't get my Viper to shut down with out the remote using the overide shut down button.

Did what the manual says........

Open door...

Alarm goes off....

Put key in the ignition turn to On.....

Press Overide button, Hold then release....

-------------Na Da---------------Alarm Blasting

Do again...

Reset alarm...

open door...

alarm goes off....

put key in ignition turn to on...

press button twice,and relese

--------------Na Da------------------Alarm Still Blasting

Manual says...button is programed for 1 to 5 pushes..

Called Viper..they say ...one push and hold and it should shut down with key in the on posistion.

Nope....WTF..??

Any ideas...????

Gonna head over to the installer tomorrow and let him see if he can shut it down as per the manual. I'd be screwed if my remote got damaged or lost. I'm also going to price out another spare remote. I think they run about $100 bucks or so.

I'm sure pulling the fuse will reset it but it's supposed to work just by tapping the overide button the proper nummber of times. This was supposed to be set from 1-5 taps at the time of install.

The installer doesn't remember how he set mine. I'll let him deal with it.

Nope...not trying to steal it ..here's the rig...2 days old ..less the marker lamps

Thanks Dude.....

Went to the installer... It took him a while to figure out WTF was going on. Anyway... Viper Changed the system operation of that circuit as compared to the earlier models. The way mine works is...

Door open with key while the alarm is set...

Alarm goes off....

Next ..Insert key in Ignition and turn to on...

Next... press the Overide button only the number of time it is set for...
To many pushes locks you out.

Next...(Not telling You what mine is set for... )

Next...Wait aprox 3 seconds...alarm will stop.

If you press button the wrong amount of times the alarm will not go Off.

Anyway...It now works

So while I was there I bought a spare remote just in case mine gets F-ed up or lost.

No worry's Mate....
