Planning on the Hummer purchase in the next month or so. Love everything about it. However hear that the v-8 will be out in about 2 years. I'm not a power junky so I don't think this is a concern. any differing opinions. Would it be worth waiting for the v-8?

Short answer......NO Get the H3 now and enjoy it while you can. 2 years from now may bring us a diesel, a V8, a Hybrid, a Cold Fusion reactor with in-line flux capacitor. When that time comes trade or sell and move on. Until then you'll still have the H3

They got to get that flux capacitor working properly.

I am not the one to ask about waiting. I did a mad scramble on the Internet to find one equipped the way we wanted it so that we could pick it up at the dealer at once. We didn't want to wait weeks for a special order.

With just 400 miles on it, we haven't opened it up yet but it seems plenty powerful with the I5 engine. From what I know so far, I would pass up a V8 for the I5 if they had a choice.

Best regards, Happy Jack

One other thing to think of when talking about GM might possibly, maybe sometime in the near future release a V8, is the price. I would bet if they do release a V8 (and I have no personal knowledge that they will or will not ), it will be an option, and might not be that cheap.
I have no problems with the 3.5L, and a boost of about 25-30 would, in my opinion, make it just a hair better.

I liked the idea of the supercharger initially. I am not convinced that the OEM parts could handle the additional strain offroad.

The one offered by Predator looks tempting:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Hummer H3 Supercharger by Predator
Boost your H3's performance with this Supercharger by Predator Motorsports! This baby provides up to 308HP, 315 ft/lbs of torque, and up to a 40% power gain. Can be installed in as little as 2 1/2 hours. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Diesel would be a great alternative. The litle jeep liberty comes with a diesel option. It has a great deal of torque for the trail (considering its size).
