Default Nitto Mud Grapplers vs. Nitto Terra Grapplers

How big is the noise difference between the two? Does the Mud ride smooth enough to drive every day on pavement?

The tread pattern on the Terra isn't even as aggressive as the BFG AT, so it is super quiet. The Mud, on the other hand, makes you think a small prop plane is glued to your ass, and makes things inside the truck rattle more than normal (especially if, like me, you don't rotate them often).

I will second the plane comment on the noise, but mine ride smooth as glass. They start vibrating around 85 and they dont see that very often.

I can only assume the reason for this comparison is that you are thinking of buying one or the other. Im also goign to assume by your verbage that you prefer the mud grappler to the terra(dont blame you as its a great looking tire). That being said these tires are two worlds apart and a happy medium may be attractive to you--a nice looking more aggressive tire without all the road noise. To me the terra grappler looks more like a street tire rather than an all terain. Personally i run the ProComp extreme all terrain and im happy with the comfort, noise level and aesthitics. Many swear by the Toyo MT as an aggressive tread with minimum road noise.

We had the Terra's on our old truck and loved them. We never had a problem in the East Coast mud and rock terrain or on the Moab rock and sand. They're also nice and quiet on the street.

The muds, which we haven't had, are loud and vibrate. I've also read they don't really perform as well.

Thanks for all the responses,

I currently have the Terra's on my rig now and love them. I do like the looks of the Mud, but didn't know about the performance on the street. Based on what Ken said, I think I will stick with the Terras.

Depends on the terrain. Where I spend most of my time offroad, in the mud, the Terras wouldn't even come close to cutting it.

Good point, but he's more concerned about street noise.

Pete im sure you can verify this but when it comes to traction it is very important that your tire of choice is mounted on a quality chrome 20in rim.

I am a huge fan of my Nitto Muds. Loud - but not a big deal!

love the looks of my nitto muds but i recently took a 4 hour road trip and they suck on the road, they are loud and obnoxiuos, my girl hates the hummer now that i have em installed, i wouldnt have minded much but she reminded me every half hour how loud they were, if i had it to do over again i prolly would have gone with toyo mt, and if u want the mud grapps u bettter rotate every 3k or they will be done really quick
