Ok, here ya go. My MTR's are now a mess after crawling up all the nasty loose rocks we have, 18k miles with many of them out of alignment. SO, I know I can't get MTR's now. I guess I should get PJ's, which I would like in a 38 but are they available for a 17" rim? Where is a good place to buy?

BTW, if you think rocks are bad on tires, you should try car crushing sometime...

Here's the link to a store that has dirt grip for the best price I have seen (wish I knew about this place before I paid 415.00 a http://www.ntwonline.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=48&Product_ID=1211&CATID=10tire) .
I would advise that you stay with the stock size for a few reasons:
1. Oversize tires can void the warrenty on broken driveline components.
2. The 38.5 tire is 15.5 wide. They will wear out faster.
3. Some people have issues with the 15.5 tires rubbing off road. A body lift will correct it, but a body lift can also void warrenty iteams.
Yes the PJ's are availible for the 17 inch rim.

Ah, Dirt Grips. Good choice, but then again I'm bias.

They do offer the Dirt Grips for 17" rims.

I have the 38's on my truck and have experienced no rub. No lift, a lots of articulation. I have had them off-road several times now and they are wonderful in just about every condition I've had them in (rock, mud, snow/ice)... Not bad on the road either.

Wear, well I can't comment here so no promises. I expect they will wear given there off-road nature.

Ok, I've got a local shop that will sell me 38's for $345 and 37's for $285. I'm just waiting to talk to my Hummer tech about the size. I'd like to do 38's but if they do rub I'll be bummed.

Well, part of me really wanted to 38's for the look. I called my hummer guy at Cerritos who said to go with the 37's (just more practical)so that's what I did. I paid the $285 each.
