Yesterday I was driving my H3 when the battery light came on and stayed on for about a minute. 30 minutes later it came on again and my ABS FAILURE light came on the dash, my truck lost power and shut of well I was driving. I used jumper cables to get it to start again, I went about 50 feet before I lost all power again and the car died. The key would not come out of the ignition and I had to get it towed to the dealership. Has anybody had anything like this happen to them?

The key is supposed to do that. It sounds like a bad alternator maybe battery but more likely alternator since the battery is new and fresh.

I should clarify on the key, it is supposed to do that and I have had it happen to me when I was putting on my fog lights. I disconnected the negative battery terminal, probably is a security thing.

Sounds like your alternator took a poo, but could be that the battery went south. Had same deal on my Sub and it was the battery. So could be you got a defective batt.

I had something exactly like this happen to me in my Jeep wrangler (traded in on my H3). In my case it was the battery. I did the same thing, jumpt it, it ran about 100 feet and died again.

My guess is everyone is correct in assuming that it's the alternator unless your battery is defective.

Do you have the marker lights installed on your
H3?
The dealer tells me they are having electrical problems.

Joeyjoey, no I don't have marker lights installed on my truck. I picked up my truck today and the dealer told me that I had a faulty battery so they replaced it with a new one.

Yeah I had something like that. The dealership has had to come and get mine twice so far. Originally stated the installation of my Nav unit was the cause; gave me all kinds of statements as to why the Nav was the problem; until the install shop called and talked to the Hummer Tech. then they admitted this was not the problem, but they do not know what IS!
A couple weeks later (Thurs. Oct. 13th)it was totally dead again. the dealer came out that night, (8:30 P.M. and a 25 mile drive) to get it (kind of unexpected that they do that) They still can't find anything wrong, but aren't blaming the Nav install anymore. They replaced the battery last Friday, "just because they do not know what else to do" They still have it, over a week now and still are not sure what is wrong. I am hoping to get it back tomorrow after 9 days but won't know 'till mid-day.

Rhyno: anymore problems? Let me know how it is going for you.

I got my H3 back last Friday after the dealer had it for over a week. Tonight, it is dead again. They are on their way out to pick it up for the 3rd time. How many times does a vehicle have to be taken in for the same issue for it to be considered under the Lemon law? Or how many days does it have to be in their possesion. The dealer is great in regards to coming and getting the truck, but this is really starting to annoy me. All that Cash and I have a new vehicle that I can't count on!

Not sure about your state but under California law its 3 strikes your out for the Lemon Law if they are unable to rectify after 3rd time of same problem.

if that's the case, something's wrong electrically where it's constantly draining the battery. hope they figure it out! it isn't always good when there are electrical problems.

Lucci, after the dealer replaced my battery I have had no problems. Good luck, I hope they find out what is wrong with your truck.

Rhyno: Thanks for the update; do you drive your vehicle daily? Anyone else drive the H3 only on the weekends? That could be a difference in that it has never happened to me RIGHT after or while driving, rather always after I have let it sit for 4-5 days. And not everytime I let it sit that long. But it has always been after letting it sit.
