Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
Just returned from my semi-annual jaunt through Manhattan, NY in the Hummer. Have to admit that even to transfixed New Yorkers the Hummer still brings its share of attention. Not one bad gesture or anything of that nature this trip.
On the way home I stopped by my Hummer dealer and they are taking orders on 2010 H2s promising a first week of February delivery. There are four colors in 2010: white, black, silver pearl and another color only available later in the summer. The interior will be identical to 2009. The BF Goodrich mud and snow tires will return in 2010 except in the limited edition models and horsepower remains the same with torque increased 20 ft lbs. A loaded 2010 SUT stickers at $76,000 with nav, the lux and air suspension. They already had deposits on five new H2s.
The owner of the dealership said the current problem with the Tengzhong contract is the desire to move ALL Hummer manufacturing to China by 2012, to include the H2, H3 and Hx, and has been told the deal is within days of being completed and everything signed and all the "i"s dotted.

Read The second line from the Bottom.. GM does not own HUMMER H2 only the name HUMMER....It is owned by AM General..The H2 Is built Next to the HUm-Vee Plant... Don't think AM General will give it up.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
I dropped by Lynch yesterday on my way into St. Louis from the Ozarks to pick up some new wiper blades. They sold their last H1 and it was strange to see the entire lot without an H1 sitting around, except for three in the service bays. They also have orders for several new H2s and they said AMG should start cranking them out in January. I think that fourth color to be available at a later date is sunburst orange. Another Orange Crush, Mark ?? First time I've seen their gun and rifle collection - it's quite impressive.
Steve and Mike back in the service department, who between them comprise an encyclopedia of knowledge on Hummers said I should use my air suspension and hit the button and lift it up every now and then to keep everything supple & working. They've found from years of experience the more you use it the less problems you have with the bags and sensors. It seems like that light blinks forever though raising the rear end up.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
If this is true, it's GREAT news! My lease expires at the end of this month and I've been wondering what to do. I spoke with Sewell's Hummer last week and they told me they're not expecting any 2010s before June, but it was a salesman.

H2 is GM designed and owned -- they outsource production to AM General. The H2 will be going with the sale to Tengzhong. Production will continue to be outsourced to AM general until GM's original contract is up w/ them.
I'd be hesitant to believe anything that a dealer told me - since they're largely out of the loop. GM shares info with them about when/why production is delayed, not where the new company wants to put it in 4 years.

Here are the projected colors for the 2010 models:
2010 HUMMER H2 and SUT:
Silver Ice Metallic (previously on limited editions)
Black
Birch White
Storm Metallic (replaces Graystone)
Promising first week of February delivery?? Who wants to put money on this? Pretty ballsy of a dealer to say that to a customer throwing down cash.

I stand corrected.... One would hope that the Chinese would keep the H2 Plant (AM General) here but I guess it's all about Labor cost and health Insurance...And of course Money.

Honestly, I can't think of a worse PR move to move production out of the U.S., which is why I think the rumor is bogus.
But international, non-US versions of the H4? It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they produced those in China.

Totally Agree...Leave the plant here...Keep Americans employed...And Buy the GM Drive Train Parts from GM as they are now. This will support GM and the Drive line Parts Plants and employees. Since AM General Is contracted by GM why can't the Chinese do the same? The H2 is a one of a kind chassis and Body design... It still sells... Leave it The "F" Alone.
If They want to design their own Motor or Tranny Fine... But leave the construction to AM General here in the USA.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
I agree, I don't want to see American jobs lost. I know the H3 has been produced in Joburg and in Russia for several years under license. I think the H2 has been produced in Russia under license for a few years too.

Yeah..I think they are also producing them in South Africa. Didn't they open a plant for the H3 there a few years back?

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
The H3 was made in South Africa, but they have closed that plant and made all H3 manufacturing centralized in Shreveport, LA. I know H3s were made in Russia for non-export only, and several H1s were made in China by Dongfeng under a limited license three years ago (interestingly a few had Tengzhong diesel engines), but I don't think H2s were ever made anywhere else except for Mishawaka. The Mishawaka plant is probably one of the most modern and high tech vehicle assembly plants in the United States.

Russian plant was H2 only, and you're correct about the South Africa plant -- that's where all global H3s were made (outside North America). As for Dongfeng, that was a knock-off -- not licensed by AM General. AMG is not big on sharing their technology/production rights with anyone - since they export to countries all over the world.
Mishawaka is where all North American H2s are made.

Will the 2010 Hummers get the USB port for the stereos as the 2010 gm trucks got.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
I wouldn't expect to see any updates on the 2010s - there was no design going on for most of the year while GM was trying to get rid of HUMMER.

They didn't agree to it, it was a knockoff. Also, AM General makes the Humvee and originated the HUMMER brand. GM now owns the HUMMER brand and the civilian models. No such thing as GM General, but I admit, the whole thing is a little hard to keep track of.

Re: Dealers taking orders on 2010 H2s
Hi Hummer Guy, thanks for clearing that up for me. I did find it hard to understand AM General would let someone clone their H1.
