I just taped them up, scuffed them with a scotchbrite pad, and painted them with OEM trim black. It was easy to tape as there is a groove all the way around. I took big pieces of cardboard and cut holes in them to shiled the overspray from the rest of the truck. I've done it twice now b/c the paint i used the first time chipped a little. Took 30 minutes.

Carefully pop the mirror out(you kind of have to tug on it). There's 3-4 screws that hold the halves together. The nasty chrome piece pops out from the inside.

I tried and tried but was getting too nervous with all the pulling and prying I was doing. I know most of the time you just gotta pull but I gave up and just taped everything off and sprayed them intact.

Tim, convert to the old style mirrors and I'll send you a spare DS glass.

Me too. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Oh hell, I'll just trade you mirrors, Tim. And I'll include the extra glass, but you'll have to buy new glass for the PS. Mines broke.

I finsished them up today along with the H2 Badges and skid plate. I know the skid will get banged up the first time I go wheelin...next weekend. I hope it holds up on the mirrors. Since they are a dirrect impact area with bugs and rocks, I wonder how well it will hold up...esp in the car washes?
I left everything on the truck, just masked around it with painters tape and newspaper. I used a scotchbright (sp) pad to scratch the crap put of everything I was painting, used rubbing alchohol to clean, air hose to blow off, and sprayed them with the duplicolor bedliner.
It looks good now, but we'll find out down the road how this stuff holds up. If it doesn't I'll get them plastic coated. I wanted to avoid taking the mirrors apart.
Thanks for info guys!

Well, I just got back from New Orleans and my mirros had bling again! I was going up to 100 (wanted to see where the governor was), mostly right at 85-90. We hit a pretty bad storm and I think the speed + bad storm just peeled off the de-blinging. I doubt pressure washers go 100mph! I'll try once more. It may be the paint I was using. It was a Black Trim Paint from Pep Girls. Before that I onused 500 degree engine enamel. It stayed on better, but I hit my mirror on my carport post and decided to re-paint both. What paint did you use?

X2. (Ken's idea)
I sprayed the mirrors, emblems, and rear l plate brow, and skid plate. After going for 200 mile ride, i have some bling showing where rocks had hit on the mirror caps. Everything else is great! I will coat them again.

Cool, I can take off my temporary de-blinging measure...Black Gorrilla Tape! I also used this to stop the wind noise at the windshield moldings. I guess I'll fix it right one of these days!
