1.) Open drain plug on bottom of front/rear diff's and drain all the fluid. Once all the oil is out, tighten drain plug, and then open top fill plug.
2.) Pour 75-90 (Mobil, Purple, etc.) into fill hole until it starts to barely come back out the fill hole. Reinstall fill hole plug and you are done.
At least that is what I did for a Tahoe a couple of years ago and it worked fine. Am I right with this?
still the same way
I had mine done at a Valvoline Oil Change for for like $35/Ea. I don't I could have done it cheap myself.

I still remember when I was a kid and worked at a place called the Grease Monkey. (Similar to Jiffy Lube)
When we would run out of one blend of oil, we would just throw anything in there that we had. I will never pay someone else for something that I can do myself!
Having said that, here are two true stories that happened to me a few years ago. We built a house and one of the options was the electric garage door opener. I passed on having the builder put it in as I could do this myself. I think I saved about $150 by doing it myself. Soooo.... several months later I am changing the oil on the cars and I am literally thinking in my head as I am pressing that garage door opener about how much money I have saved over the years of doing the oil chnages and mechanical work myself. I hear my son yelling DAD, DAD, the garage door!!!!! I look back to see the garage door folding upon itself as it is trying to close. We have one of those huge garbage totes and the top is larger than the base. I had pulled the can out of the garage to make room and the bottom of the can was outside of the way "eyes" to stop the door but the top was in the path. I never adjusted the downward pressure stop on the door so it kept on coming. That cost me almost $1500... Now I am changing oils myself just to get to a break ven point!!!!! Second story was I had the brilliant idea of sealing my driveway myself... Why I could save like $50 bucks.... Pulled the cars out into the street and began to roll... I hear a loud BING and look around... We live in a golf course community and someone sliced a ball really bad. That ball went over my house and into the side of the car. ANOTHER looser!!!!!
I do it all myself too. Even if it cost a little more I know it was done right.
