welcome to hydroboost.
do this before replacing pump:
with truck off, push brake pedal to floor hard 3 times. then restart truck with foot on brake pedal--pedal should kick twice then regain stiffness and push your foot back up.
If this doesn't happen, brake booster is faulty.

Most Gm trucks have hydro-boost brakes. Looking at my 04 Z71 Burb, it has it also. Must not work on GM trucks/Suv's much.
Good system, but as with my Buick Grand National days, when those things go, you know it, and it's expensive...

YEAH, i have been truck only for a few months, but i was in the race car business for the last 10 years. most things i dealt with had an aftermarket booster. hmm, i was just working on a 02 silverado, and we didnt hook up the power steering pump at all and it didnt have any effect at all on the brakes, and i dont remember any lines going from one to the other.hmm

that's because a 2002 1500 Silverado has a vacume booster ,look at a 2003 2500hd,2003 Avalanche or an H2 to name just a few . many 1 ton big block GM trucks as early as 87 have hydraboost .I'll bet B4 long you will see all electric brakes on most vehicles ,and than the 24 volt system they have been talking about will be needed .
