Default Change from single cd to 6 disc in dash...help

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows if the 6 disc in dash cd changer is interchangeable with the single disc /cassette deck? I have an 05 H2 SUT.

The model # for the 6 disc changer is 15115013.

Thanks for your help in advance.

You MIGHT have to have the dealer setup the new radio to be recognized on the data bus. Not sure how the H2's radio theft control operates. On H3's if a new factory radio is installed it will go into lock mode until a Tech 2 is used to program the new radio to the data bus. Some models with older BCMs require the Tech 2 to program the vehicle's VIN into the radio.

Unless the radio is brand new. If it's from another vehicle it will be VIN locked. If it's fresh, it should work without having to be unlocked with the Tech 2.

The 2 trucks probably work pretty much the same in this respect.

Some of the brand new radios require programming now to link them on the internal data bus. We just had a meeting on this before July, GM has to start giving programming time for warranty radio installation.

At the end of the production line, during the DVT, the automated systems links all the modules together with the VIN.

Not sure on which radios are used on H2 in previous years. But if it does not operate, and states something like SYS LOCKED or just LOCKED, the dealer has to unlock it by programming.

The new BCMs GM is using cannot even be switched from vehicle-to-vehicle by the technician anymore. The H3 was the first to use this program, and it will be coming on all new desiged vehicles. Once the BCM is programmed to a VIN, it cannot be reprogrammed to another vehicle. It has to be sent back to the manufacturer. Too many people were switching BCMs to cut the miles on a vehicle.
