Hello all, I’m in the early stages of looking for my next vehicle, Hummer is on the top of the list. I don’t really want to buy new because they seem to depreciate pretty fast, H2 was my first choose but maybe H3? I would use it to go to work (3 miles away) occasional off-road and pulling a 6k lb boat in and out of the water. Any thoughts on options you guys wish you had? I know I would need the tow package and would love to have the navigation or the dvd player for my 3 boys but don’t know what else? I was told to buy 1 with the tire on the outside to give you more room inside? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bob Also my last 2 vehicles were a Ford expedition and a Chevy Tahoe, how much worse can the Hummer be on Gas? Thanks again

You are not driving enough to even consider gas mileage in the equasion. driving that little distance your mileage would suck in any vehicle, You would spend less than $400 a year on gas. If you likes the Tahoe, you will love the H2. and if you look around, you shold be able to find one very reasonable.

Ford Exp. and Chevy Tahoe! the H2 will yield the same MPG. I dont tow so I wouldn't know about that but the DVD would be nice for trips with the kids and the spare on the outside, although to me a pain to open and close to get access to the back door it does save lots of space inside.

If you're towing, you might want to consider a Gobi rack to carry the spare on the roof. That will give you access to the rear hatch.
As for options - get a sunroof.

I get 13 mpg on a mix of hwy/city.
I agree, don't worry about the spare, get a GOBI and put it on top.
Kids go crazy when they see an H2.

This info is great thanks, what is a Gobi rack? Can someone post a picture? I did tell the boy’s I was thinking of getting one and they were all excited, I just wish the wife were as excited? I'm in the process of trying to sell or trade my 911 turbo to make room for the new toy, I'm going to post the link so if someone is thinking of switching toys such as I maybe we can talk. Thanks again Bob

I certainly wouldn't buy and H2 for the sole purpose of pavement driving and hauling. It's doesn't have enought power for hauling large loads. Get a Suburban for hauling.

ditto on CO Hummer's comment unless you plan on supercharging the H2.
And forget about towing with the H3
