Default Aftermarket Wheels & Service Tire Pressure Monitor - SVC TPM

Is this a dealer required fix, or can I just swap out the caps from the stock wheels??

The 22" wheels look nice, but the damn SVC TPM is getting annoying now.

Not sure of your question.
If you are asking can you take your TPM sensors from the stock rims to the new rims, the answer is yes, if they will fit. The tire valve is part of the sensor.
If they don't fit, you might be able to install them to the center of the rim using a large tie strap. People did this with Vettes and it worked ok.

Yeah, that was what I was wondeirng........if the actual TPM Sensors were in the vavlestem caps. I figured they were, but just wanted to make sure. I'm gonna try swapping those from my stock wheels and see if I can do the reset with the computer then.

Thanks!

The actual sensor is inside mounted to the rim, the valve is metal and acts as a antenna to send the signal to the BCM.
If your new rims have the right mounting surface and distance from the mounting surface to the hold for the stem, the sensors should fit.
However, I will guess that not all aftermarket rims will allow for the installation of the sensor.
On vettes, if the sensor did not fit, they would epoxy the sensor to the center of the rim, and help hold with a giant tie strap (I have some that are three feet long). Then install a standard rubber valve stem and the tire. All the sensor has to do is send a signal with the pressure reading.
If the signal from the sensor reaches the BCM all is well. If it won't then the TPM will turn on warning you of a problem.
The dealer does not have any way to turn this off since it is mandated by a Federal Law.

So if the valve stem cap is moreless just the transmitter to the BCM and the actual sensor is mounted inside the tire on the wheel, will just swapping the valve stem caps prove useless? If there is no sensor to transmit the data, swapping valve stem caps probably wouldn't be much use, would it?

The valve stem cap is just a cap, nothing else in relation to the TPM. The sensor is inside of the tire, connected to the metal valve stem. The metal valve stem serves as the antenna for the sensor.
I bought my new wheels from Discount Tire, and they took the sensors out of my old wheels, and put them into the new ones. They also put standard stems back onto my old wheels without any additional charge.

Is it possible to pull a fuse and or and disable the TPM?

I get tired of the bells and reminders going of when I am aired down.

No fuse for jus this circuit. The sensors contain a battery, that directly signals the BCM. The BCM communicates the TPM message to the I/P cluster to turn on the light via the class 2 serial data link and the BCM chimes.
So, no fuse.
Someone last year had a great idea, that was for the BCM to recognize via the class 2 serial data link from the PCM/TCCM that you are in 4-Lo Lock and if you were in 4-Lo Lock, turn off the TPM warning, since this would mean you were not traveling on the highway. (I cannot remember who suggested it, but it was a great idea after I thought about it for a while.)
I actually passed this idea through GM engineering and GM legal, and the reply was very quick...NO. It is a federally mandated system that requires these TPM sensors on the vehicle, and no one will take responsibility of saying under certain conditions it will shut off the warning.
Car manufacturers are just a bit touchy on the subject of lawsuits lately.

Just got back from the HUMMER dealership to confirm the location of the TPM sensor. Turns out the sensor is located in the VALVESTEM.......and when I asked how much I was shocked to hear $200...........PER TIRE! Those are some damn expensive valve stems in this rig!!!

Luckily I still have the stockers so i think I might as well just swap them over......oh boy......8 unmounts\remounts\rebalances

Thanks f5stop - that picture clears it up. I was confused when you mentioned that it was mounted to the rim.....

Hey guys,

I just got an 08 H2 and put my aftermarket 22 inch rims with nitto terra grapplers tires. My tire pressure sensors finally after like 3 days figured out I had new rims on. Hah so much for the sensor knowing whats going on. I could have gotten a flat and it wouldnt have known for 3 days!

Anyways I got the idiot light on the dash now. Can you just take the valve out of the stock tires and put them into the aftermarket tires? Should a tire shop do this or can it manually be done?

Thanks in advance.

I need help on this same issue..

I just decided to rotate my tires and at the same time remove the tires from the rims to rotate the inner side of the tire to the out side.. I took this to a local tire shop and when done the TPM light when on... I took this back to the shop and the owner stated they did not know how to fix.. so i took it to the Discount tire shop and they resent the system with this little unit that made the computer recognize the sensors.. but at the end the light never when off... we did all the routine of turn on and off the lights 4 tims.. till the beeps.. then start with the front left tire until another beep and so on with all four tires.. but the lights its still on... what else do i need to doo??

F5Fstop I know you have the answer please help this poor man.

Here's your sign:
If you could drive around on a flat for 3 days and not know it without your TPSM telling you, PLEASE, sell your truck! (And burn your driver’s license!)

I also got Orange TPMS in my car, it is nice. they are using "TP-checker" as their retro-fit TPMS brand, and oec as their OE replacement sensor.
They have a formula team for Formula Nippon this year in Japan, and very good score for the racing.
it also showing the good quality product in the formula racing.
I love it in my car now.

More important, i love it, because it response very fast, i tried to deflate the tires, it show alert within 3 seconds everytime, very good.

You may see some below information from here, you can see more about the product.
