Political Test
This test only takes a few seconds and has been praised by some in the media. There's only 10 questions.
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
My results:
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 0%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 90%.

Re: Political Test
Okay, I stopped at the second question. I don’t think I can get decent results from this test at least for me. “Government should not censor speech, press, media or Internet.” Agree or not? I’ll bet almost everyone agreed with that one. I assume “Government should not censor” means not that it should not take censorship too far, a reasonable proposition, but that the “Government should not censor” ever.
We've always had censorship in this country. In fact, it's easy to denounce censorship when you are blind to the fact that it already exists all around us. And, since it exists, it's pointless to say you are against if you really aren't. Unless you believe that the state has no right to stop the most debased things from appearing on your kids' Saturday-morning TV, you already believe in the "principle" of censorship. What about Bulgarian child pornography? Government can’t censor that? They can’t if you really believe that the “Government should not censor speech, press, media or Internet.” Can your 3rd-grader’s public school teacher teach you children about the good merits of gerbil stuffing, Stalinism, and genocide? Yes? No censorship at all?
The question for most is how much and where you believe that principle should be applied. Where is the line. Most are really FOR censorship – but only reasonable censorship, but most people can’t admit it. Political speech is okay, but no Bulgarian child porn during the Saturday cartoon hour. Thus, the test question is unanswerable to me. The Maybe response is sort of in the middle, but it doesn't reflect my belief either. We need censorship in relatively rare circumstances, but we do need it when we need it - not maybe need it.
Next one: “Military service should be voluntary. There should be no draft.” Uh, are we fighting an increasingly successful joint Chinese/Russian invasion of Europe and the Pacific? A much smaller war? No war? My answer depends on the context. Again, I can’t really answer the question. We put 10% of our population under arms to win WWII. We could not have done that without the draft. Generally, I don’t think there should be a draft, unless we really need one. But there’s no such response to fill in. If we need it, I want it. I can't answer the question.

Re: Political Test
MH...you put way too much thought into that. Like me make it simple.
Censorship...Never...good parenting will make up for "bad" images or words
Draft...Never...in a "civilized" world it should never be needed. That said, I like the way Citizens are decided in Starship Troopers. Basically...you have to serve to earn the right to vote....but there should never be a draft.

So, if you have a child in a 3rd grade public school and the teacher teaches them the enitre year that war is the greatest thing, war should always be used to solve all problems, genocide is great, sex between children and adults is cool, crystal meth is good for children, etc ...
You're not going to want the government to stop this? Really? If not, maybe you're really against all censorship. If so, you're for it.

Yeah, they said the same thing in 1938. Throughout civilization, the irrationals have always thought that their society was more enlightened than all the past ones to the point that wars would no longer occur. They were always wrong. Are you right? Nope.

I believe if I am a good parent then they will understand what is right and wrong. I refuse to push the responsibility off on others.

Being a good parent includes limiting what you expose your 8 year old kids to. Like say cocaine, child porn, or cyanide. You can't let you kids be exposed to things like that and call yourself a good parent with a straight face just because you are a wise teacher when they get home.

We agree to disagree then. I think your examples are BS, and a greatly over exaggerated attempt to make a point. I may be dumb, but I am not stupid. Part of being "wise" is teaching them to avoid that sh1t...but oh well. Not sure this conversation will get us anywhere.

Re: Political Test
Shaggy..... just shut up. You're not even forming complete thoughts.
That political "test" is by and for the libertarians. The questions are well thought out so that it brings you up centered.
Forest for the trees, Shaggy. What benefits society as a whole for there not to be any form of censorship at any level. What is to be gained from that? What is to be gained by enacting law that bans the draft when you have no idea what's coming down the pike. It's a none issue until it's needed and if you don't have one, you don't have a Country to worry about censorship or draft anymore.

Actually, recent studies show that is a true statement. Between the ages of 6 months and 192 months (16 years), it can dramatically increase brain developement, as well as an array of other skills.

Shag, you don't vote anyway, so your opinion is mute.
