Default Current Hummer Valuation

Guys,

Over the past few months, I have been evaluating the purchase of a H2. I am considering purchasing a low mileage 08 or 09 that still has some warranty remaining. I have found several vehicles including a 08 for 37K and an 09 for 44K that would meet my requirements. What do you guys think of the near term (i.e. next 90 days) valuation considering gas is going up and the economy keeps sucking. Most of the vehicles were in Texas.

Also, can any GM dealership provide warranty services due to the closing of Hummer dealers? Thanks for any thoughts.

Hummers don't lose their value anymore than any other gas sucking SUV Check with you local GMC dealer for warranty work, it is different depending on where you live.

Pricing seems about right, I just bought an '08 for $37K, plus an extended warranty. Purchased through a Chevy dealership and I will pay no out of pocket expenses if I have warranty/service work performed there.

I'm curious about any sub $40K 08 H2's--how many miles are we talking about? Over 50K?
I paid $38K for my 07 H2 w/23K miles back in April, and at the time it was the hands down best price for a nearly loaded 07.
Are the sub-$40K 08's base models or do they have any gadgets--i.e. third row seat, air susp, brush guard, additional chrome, DVD's, chrome wheels, roof racks; that's what mine came with.
As for valuation--I just test drove an awesome 07 Special Edition with 56K miles on it listed at $31,500, which in my opinion is outstanding for everything you get--and the truck is damn near flawless--I'd actually consider trading mine to get the Spec Ed upgrades if this one would have had air suspension!
I don't think these things are losing value like people seem to think they are--but I don't see them gaining any either just because they are now rare.
From what I've seen, looks like they're holding a good to better than average resale for a used vehicle. Any 08's I've looked at generally tend to come in at $44 to $46 for lower mileage clean used ones that are not completely base. As for an 09 for $44--no way unless it's got a damage title of some kind!

I was just browsing C/list and ebay this morning looking to see where prices were at. I was surprised to see that they are the same or a bit higher than this time last year.

FWIW I bought mine last November with 24k miles for 30k- fully loaded.

Just for your reference: I just bought (12-27-10) a 2007 lux package H2 with 20,450 miles for $34k. I drove 6 1/2 hours to get it this truck. Locally the same truck with 55k miles was selling for $35-37k. Bought mine in Tennessee @ Dixie Motors.

Coming up on the end of the factory warranty time wise, but the truck is like new condition. I couldn't be happier!!
