If Hummer gets the axe
I was down at the local dealer the otherday and we were talkingabout the possibility of Hummer getting the boot, and he was under the impression that even if noone buys Hummer and GM stops production of hummer, that the brand will be made through 2012. Any thoughts for or against?

Re: If Hummer gets the axe
The two dealers somewhat close to me (bought my '06 from one, traded for the '07 at the other) seem to have extremely limited inventory. I was kindof shopping for a '09 since it might be the last year. Guy I talked to at one dealership said they just aren't getting very many in.
I think that is a bad sign, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the plug this year.

Re: If Hummer gets the axe
They haven't changed much since the initial offering. So parts and aftermarket should be continue going forward for some years...

Re: If Hummer gets the axe
American car dealerships place orders for New cars every Tuesday. I suspect that because the dealships have to buy the vehicles, that they are just not placing orders with the factory because they don't want to sit on the inventory.
However, there is nothing wrong with telling the dealer that you want a New '09 H3. simply spec it out at the dealership and have them order it. Why buy a car that has been sitting around for a year outside at a dealer?
I did that once, and yes I got a better deal, but it was more of a headache in the long run, because all the crap trim they put on it, just wasn't staying on it anymore, and it was part of the price.
I buy what I want now, without any input from what the dealer thinks their customers want as trim packages.

Re: If Hummer gets the axe
I've said it before and I'll say it again, there has never been a better time to buy a Hummer! I paid sticker for my '03 H2 and near sticker for my '06. Now that the governement said they will back warranty work, it's a big relief.
The six month forgiving your payments GM is offering if you loose your job is something we will never see again in our lifetimes! IMHO

The economy is getting worse, not better.Folks will be losing jobs for a long time to come.I think all of us will be seeing more and more layoffs and much more government intervention in our lives. These incentives will do nothing to ease the auto crisis especially since GM is government run.
