Living Almost Two Miles Up
Well, this is my first post on the new forum, so hopefully it works ok....
Anyway, we're moving to Leadville. I'll post more details on what we're doing there soon. Here's some pictures of the H3, and Leadville.

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
Leadville is about 1 hour West of Denver, if you could go in a straight line. It's south of I-70. You get off at the Copper Mountain exit and go for about 30 minutes.
And yes, it's very small.

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
This is paradise for me. Plenty of trails in the summer time, and in the winters there is a ton of skiing. I taught at Whiteface last season and I plan to teach at Ski Cooper this season, which isn't far from Leadville. I'm a Level I instructor under PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). So this area is a playground. And besides, I hate hot weather, so it's plenty cold. Maybe this summer some of guys might come up for Mosquito Pass.

Yeah, if you're driving a Forumula One.
I've stayed in Leadville many times. Can't beat the views! Hopefully, summer will fall on a weekend so you get time to enjoy it.

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
Aubs,
Get your butt on mountain bike and start your training for the Leadville 100. Look it up. I'm thinking about doing it next year.

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
That would be cool. There's some sort of Duathalon in the summer. I don't know if I could do it. I can ski, but that doesn't exactly put you into shape...

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
Nice pics. I'm going to Colorado Springs in early June for the first time. Should I expect similar scenery?

Pike's Peak to the west is very predominate, and Cheyenne mountain has the zoo, Will Rogers' Shrine, and a very well secured military site. Colorado Springs is in the foothills of the Rockies. So, you won't be surrounded by the Rockies as in Leadville.

Re: Living Almost Two Miles Up
I've never been to Colorado Springs, but Fstop's description sounds good.
Leadville has some of the coolest views around in my opinion.
