Machined means the part was made by taking a solid piece of material (aluminum, stainless steel, etc.) and cutting or "machining" the part on a CNC machine or lathe or the like. Casting is melting the material (almost always of lesser quality and strength) and making the part by way of a mold or lost wax or sand. Machining produces a part which is as strong as the original material. Casting is more porous and more likely to crack or break.
