PAST FEW DAYS I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY RPM GAUGE. IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN I'M SITTING AT IDLE, THE RPM SLIGHTLY REVS UP AND DOWN. A FRIEND OF MINE SAID THAT MAYBE MY THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO GET CLEANED.
ANY IDEAS?
SEEMS LIKE EITHER WAY, I GOTTA CALL THE DEALER.

Can't speak for the H2.. mine still works fine.. I can say that my old beast , 99 Sub w/ supercharger had the same problem. Had to replace plugs and wires ( Tune up).

WB-
Did this happen right after you installed your new programmer? Could it be related?
I'm thinking about a programmer myself.

With all the mods on your H2, it will be interesting to see what the dealer says. I hope you have a good working relationship with them... Otherwise expect trouble.
Any chance the plug wires are getting too close to the headers? Did you change to a different heat range spark plug?
I'd program the computer back to stock - First to eliminate that as a problem, and second to keep the dealer from using that as an excuse.

The engine revs up and down or just the gauge? When a engine revs up an down at idle it most likley is a vacume leak. BIG-C

I agree with Circuitguy. Check for vacuum leaks esp. with the cold air intake.

I had a similar problem with my supercharged 99 Suburban.. We searched for 3 days and took to 2 shops to find a vaccum leak..Finally Took to friend at dealership ( which one day I will learn to go to 1st).. They changed plugs and wires and has never had a problem since.. My got so bad it would die at the stop lights.. Very embarrassing to have a custom tricked out vec. at the stop and then die!
Good luck .. I'm sure the dealer will be able to fix you up.

Did they have any idea of how all the carbon built up in it?

They said they've been having the same quick carbon build-up problem with all GM 6.0 engines, wether H2 or Denali.

I haven't heard of that one. Did they explain why it was happening? Is there anything that can be done to prevent it?

Same here, The cleaned the throttle body and flushed the injectors. It would surge at Idle.

I just got mine back from the dealer yesterday. I also had a surging problem at idle and they cleaned my throttle body for about $35.00. I had 11,000 miles on the odometer. I hope this isn't something that needs to be done every 15,000 miles. I'd like to learn how to do it myself if that's the case.
By the way, I'm not sure it helped much as I noticed a little surging (that went away quickly) today.
