Default Phil, 2.6 pints in front diff not enough...

I just dumped my fluid in the front diff and put in 1.5 quarts and it is not all the way to the bottom of the fill hole. Unless I am doing my math wrong, 2.6 pints is only 41.6 ounces and I put in 48 ounces and still not enough.

Looking in there with a mirror and flashlight, I can not even see the fluid. I am a little worried since I do not have anymore to put in there right now and will have to order more.

Any ideas?

I did try the old finger in hole trick, but didn't fell anything

MM, I would go ahead and get an extra quart just in case you have same problem. I ordered 6 as well and can use more, so now I have to go buy another in the morning and hope that works. Plus, you will have some if you detect a leak or need to add etc.

Tomp- the correct level is 5/8" to 1 5/8" below the fill hole. You will have to put in a pipe cleaner or something to check the level. doug

Sorry , thats the rear diff. , I dont know what the front is for sure. I think it may be up to the bottom of filler hole. good luck.

I have always filled up until it oozes out the fill hole. Just ensure the vehicle is level.
