stalling.
June 1, 2005: 1:18 PM EDT
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - After a string of consumer complaints over engine
problems,Toyota's popular hybrid vehicle, the Prius, will face an investigation,
the government announced Wednesday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which has received 33
complaints on both the 2004 and 2005 models, said it will evaluate the problem
which could affect approximately 75,000 Prius vehicles.

According to the agency, over 85 percent of Prius owners who reported
problems said that the vehicle stalled without warning between speeds of 35 and
65 miles per hour.

Some reports noted that the Prius, which utilizes a gas-electric hybrid
powertrain to improve the vehicle's fuel efficiency, continued to operate in
electric mode after the vehicle stalled. At least 50 percent of those complaints
said that after the vehicle stalled it could not be restarted.

HAH!!!
One of my riding buddies has one... we call it the "penis"... His Harley has a 96" bore kit on it, I tease him about being a gas hog when he rides his bike... (Which has a bigger engine than his Prius...)

I hope they work it out....i personally dont care about mileage or anything like that but Toyota/Lexus has every model in Japan incl the heavy landcruiser built with electric assist on the engine. I have been following the technology for years. Manufacturers, IF they can make it work will be selling it more for the combination of mileage and performance increase such as on the upcoming Lexus GS450h...

I saw that Prius report on the news last night. Funny ****! Owners were quoted saying that they were "scared to drive the car again", etc.

As many of you know, I own a 2004 Prius. It seems to work prefectly. However, when I posted on the prisuchat website that I was getting an H3, they said that was like screaming "I worship the deveil" in a Catholic Church.....now there is a real problem with a Prius. So, will I be the first to own both?

Pretty lame... like Prius drivers.
FunP sounded a lot like a Hummer hater over there. Didn't exactly do much to defend the brand, sure smooched some Prius driver asses, though.
