Default water leak

Hey all,

Ok, I'm parked on a slight incline, truck facing uphill. Rear of the truck is downhill, leaning a bit to the passenger side. Pouring rain out. I open the tailgate and there is water dripping out from the seam between the headliner and the plastic window trim right above the passenger window in the cargo area. I look around and can't determine where it is coming from.

Drive home and park in the driveway on level ground. I go out about an hour later (still raining) and the dripping has stopped.

WTF ??????

My conclusion is that my recently replaced roof rails were probably not installed properly. I'm guessing that there might be a problem further up the roof rails towards the front of the truck and the only reason it was dripping through the rear cargo area was because I was on an incline.

Does this sound right to you guys??

Next, what is the proper way to correct this?? Is this as simple as removing the roof rails and re-sealing the screw holes?? Are they supposed to be sealed or would this be a "quick fix" for this?

I have an appointment at the dealers to fix it but would love to hear your opinions so I know what to look for after it is repaired. By the way, SIXTH time back at the dealers for roof rail related repairs.
My dealer just sucks so effin' much !!!

TIA

I've never had the rails off to see exactly how they mount. But, I woul dventure to guess that you are right in suspecting that they were not installed correctly if they were replaced before.

I'd also make sure that the dealership called me out to the work area, when they were doing to the work, to inspect the area the water was comming from. If there is water damage under the headliner, then they need to correct it too.

Yeah, I'm guessing the roof rails. Won't be there when they repair it but I would love to see what they say.
