Is the paint on the fenders the same as the body or is it something special for the plastic

It is something different to be crack resistant. If you paint it with something else it will chip severely.

It has a flex additive that makes the paint flexible.

The fenders are not so flexible that normal paint would not be used without a flex agent. I won't disagree with F5 because he's rarely wrong but in all the years that I sold paint to all divisions of GM, they didn't use much flex agent, usually only on bumper covers. If there is a flex agent in there, it will have no effect on recoat

Has anyone had any discoloration or staining that was hard to remove? Would it be covered under warranty?

Hell, you can disagree with me. I guess I should have said, "probably has flex addive." Reason I said flex additive is that the fenders are rather flexible, but not as flexible as a front fascia on a car. I'm also wondering if the fenders are painted at the supplier. Those fenders could be sent painted by a supplier.
Hummer builder could answer that one. (Haven't seen him lately...where is he?)
I came from the Saturn world, where special paint was used.

Fenders come painted to the plant, not painted with rest of truck. If I had to guess, ther'es a whole lot of flex additive due to the plastic(not fiberglass)fenders. It's not uncommon for them to get discolored, especially on the leading edges due to rock chips. They look pretty stout with Line-X on them

FWIW, I was told by an auto body paint supplier that flex additive in paint pretty much loses it's effectiveness once the paint is fully cured. The main purpose was to facilitate handling the flexible parts for assembly.

Any auto body paint gurus who can confirm or refute this?
