Default Hummer Goes For A Swim

Police work to pull Hummer from Deerfield River

DEERFIELD - Members of the state police, the Northfield Dive Team and the Deerfield Police worked Friday to pull a large SUV out of the Deerfield River after finding it a mile downstream of where it went in.

"That's not surprising given that the force of that water was coming down at 6,000 cubic feet per second on the night that it went in," said Sgt. Blake Gilmore of the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit.

"The water was still flowing at around 1,800 cubic feet per second when we went into the water (Friday)," he said.

According to Gilmore, the most surprising thing about finding the vehicle was the good shape it was in when discovered.

"It was in almost perfect condition. There was no damage at all to the skin of the vehicle," a Hummer owned by John E. Doleva, 25, of Greenfield, Gilmore said.

You're probably right, the Deerfield River is much too far from any mall parking lot, there's no possible way for an H2 to get anywhere near it.

I wonder if the little H3 asked its mother for permission to leave the yard?
