comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
I am in the market to buy a travel trailer and I was curious from those of you that haul a trailer what size your pulling and if you have any issues? I was thinking anything from about 17ft to 21ft shouldnt be a problem. Also are you using any sort of trailering devices like trailer brakes or sway bars? I appreciate any input you may have, and thanks again in advance.....Dan PS...heat shouldnt be a problem cause I will be pulling mostly in the winter.

Re: comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
Hi....
-trailer brakes are a must, with good brake controller like a Prodigy
-use a good weight distribution hitch
-No need for sway control with RVs that short
-No need for tow mirrors as the H2 is wide enough where you dont need them.
Only problem I had was that my trailer's jack would hit my rear spare tire, so I had to get a long custom hitch shank so the ball was back further

my boats longer than that and there are no problems......length is not really the issue as much as weight is....

Re: comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
I recenly towed my car on a very heavy duty equipment trailer 350 miles round trip..... guessing the combined weight was in the neighborhood of 5500-6000 lbs. No problems at all. Also have a 8x13 enclosed motorcycle trailer and it pulls that like its not even there.

I tow a 15' Mobile detail trailer with a 250 gallon water tank, water pressure system, and a 10k watt generator plus all other tools for detailing autos. Trailer weighs in at a whopping 8650 lbs. (with water tank full) can't even tell it's back there!! Plus for all you gas haters I get 11.2 avg. in town in south Loouisiana. Hot all the time.

I pull a 7' X 16' enclosed motorcycle trailer and had to purchase an 18" hitch extension so the trailer jack would not hit the rear spare tire also! The trailer hitch rateing is supposed to be reduce by 1\3 if you add a hitch extension, but in my secanerio that is not a factory!

Re: comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
Hey guys, thanks for all the information and ideas on what to do. My sut came with the towing package, it should be prewired for the electric brake controller?

Re: comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
the most I have pulled is about 2 tons of shingles to the dump on my single axle(12' x 103") it did just fine even with the air suspension. I thought it might be a bit much for the tounge weight but it didn't show any signs of problems.

Re: comfortable trailer size to pull with h2 sut
I pulled my stacker (that I normally use behind my motorhome) around town with the H2. Not bad as long as u keep it under 55. Weight was 8500lbs (thats empty).
