Illumination Wire

Anyone who has installed an aftermarket DVD/GPS remember what wire they tapped into for the illumination?? I have the Pioneer D3 and its not changing from daytime to nighttime on the screen along with the headlights.

I have the same setup in my 2007 H2. Pioneer AVIC D3 with bluetooth and ipod adapter. My installer initially hooked up the Illumination incorrectly to a source connected to the interior light fader rheostat. I detached this connection.

I am told that the best source is the Left, top/front Yellow running light on the roof. I looked in this area myself, but did not find enough slack in the wiring to splice. (I had already tried splices to illumination wires in the driver's A-frame area, with no success, so I finally gave up).

On a brighter note, I was able to run the bluetooth MIC up the left driver A-frame pillar and mount it through the Onstar MIC hole in the ceiling. The blutooth MIC is now attached to the ceiling next to the Onstar MIC. If you are having any problems with Echo or MIC quality, this works great!
