Hi, first time poster, long time watcher. I recently bought an H2. It has been kept in good condition, serviced regularly, and overall has been maintained almost perfectly. I bought this car one month ago, it has 22942 miles on it, which is great for a 2003 car. The previous owner also put a supercharger in it, and a ton of other stuff, including a rather big lift, giant offroading tires, and a ton of stuff with the transmission. Tons of stuff I dont even really understand! But I do have all the reciepts for it.

Anyway, my problem.

A few days ago, the yellow check engine light came on. I immediately was depressed, because I thought I had somehow ended up with a lemon. I drove for a few days with the light on, until I started it up this morning. First time I turned the key, nothing happened. I turned the key again, nothing happened. The third time I turned the key the car turned on, the check engine light had dissapeared, and the car seems to be running better than ever. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? I would really appreciate a timely response, I wouldnt like something like my engine exploding in my face or something.

Yes. Go to someone with a GM Tech 2 or some other higher end OBD II Scanner, and pull the code.

The code will eventually disappear, but will stay retained in memory until cleared.

Yes, but what does that mean? Is anything in jeopardy or is it just electronic malfunctions?

You have to pull the code to find out what it is.

If the MIL/CEL light appears and then goes away, it's a warning but not a serious problem. I'd still get it checked anyways.

Also---please do not run a SC'd H2 with the check engine light (or any engine really) on for days. The light could relate to something minor or something that needs immediate attention.

If it goes on and off, as said above, it is usually not an serious problem.
