I just got a '06 H-2 and the swing arm with spare smacking me in the back while loading is killing me. Other than a stick, any hold open latch kits available?

I don't know of any, but one trick is to slightly lower your rear door and have it "catch" on the tire to prevent it from swinging in any further.

Is this a problem with the full-body truck only? My SUT tire stays where I put it.
I wonder if there's a way to adjust or shim the mounting bolts and shift the center of gravity? Or is there a way to tighten the hinge?

To tighten the hinge, don't grease it. Ever.
Joe, to solve the problem immediately, start parking in the other direction.
