Time for a new Tranny!
My torque converter is starting to go. The whole truck is starting to shudder under lockup. So I am wondering has anyone done a 4L80e conversion? Or are there upgrade rebuild kits I can get for the 4L65E??? Who else has been through this?

Re: Time for a new Tranny!
Sorry to hear that. How many miles on your ride? Do you have any codes?

Re: Time for a new Tranny!
100K miles. No codes. I am going to pull my undercarriage protection this afternoon and check U-joints just to make sure I am diagnosing this correctly.

Re: Time for a new Tranny!
If you decide you want a rebuild, I've got my trans with less than 1K miles on it after the rebuild. I went with heavy duty everything, wide bands, etc, etc with new torque converter.
I've got 1200 bucks in it. I'll sell it for 600 bucks.

Thanks Tracy,
I just figure that since I'm doing the Duramax conversion, there ain't no point in holding onto the trans or engine or transfercase or supercharger...lol.
May as well make someone's day....

Re: Time for a new Tranny!
False alarm boys. I got under the truck today and did some poking around. turns out it was a 1/2 shaft beginning to fail. I could literally grab the thing and shake it around and it made all kinds on nice hammering sounds lol.
Mark I just might have some interest in that supercharger man! lol. Need to find some $$$$ first. Trade you a front diff for it? lol
Can you also take a minute to tell me exactly what you did to your trans. My father in law owns a trans shop so he will do the build I just have to bring him the parts.....

Re: Time for a new Tranny!
I'll try to get a list of what was installed. I'm not a tranny guy (no wise-ass comments....) but I told him I wanted a rebuild with heavy duty parts. He installed wider bands, a complete rebuild with replacement of hardened parts, shift kit and new converter.
