Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I have had a H2 for over 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I am now considering switching to either a H2 SUT or a H3. Chrome, DVD's and bling done mean anything to me. I need a solid daily driver and the ability to rough it up a little. I like the H3's, I have had a few loaners form the dealer. The only thing I didnt like was the rear spare tire which I would probably remove anyway.
Has anyone made the switch from the H2 to the H3? Any regrets?
I read a thread that the gas mileage isnt exactly 15/19 as advertised. I get a solid 10mpg in my H2 even with the wind behind me going down hill. But if the H3 is only 12 or 13mpg I dont really gain much fuel effeciency.
Any advice?

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I'm not sure about others gas mileage experience, but I went 340 miles on the last tank of gas in my stock h3, averaging about 17 MPG between highway, city, and off roading. I'd say its pretty good

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I've been on top of the MPG issue for the H-3 for 14 months. Some get 13, some get 17, some swear they average 20 city/highway(THEY LIE).
The majority average around 15MPG. Thats mixed city/highway. You travel more highway it goes up, more city it goes down. You want to DRAG RACE every Ford Fiesta you see, it goes down. You tow 4 tons a lot, it goes down. You stay 65 and under because of aerodynamics it goes up. Use your cruise control as much as possible, it goes up. Keep your tires at 40psi, it goes up.
You do all the up things and your average city/highway should be 17/18.
You screw up, reg gas in Miami is now around $2.29 per...
AND
The H-3 sure parks easier.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I have and here is my pro and con list. but first and foremost let me clarify my list below before you read on. I have owned over 7 Hummers at least 2 of each model and I love them all. If I had a choice to own any it would be the H1, but because H1'a are money pits and are a PITA to do anything with besides off-road. The H2 and H3 are a better choice. If you want street and off-road performance at little cost and a good time than the H3 is your HUmmer of Choice. If you want power, respect and a big bad ride like no other than the H2 is your Hummer of choice. IMOHO
CON:
1- Its not an H1 (Sorry I got rid of both of mine)
CON:
2- The H2 has a much nicer interior cab and confort zone. The H3 unless you get the LUX/LEATHER/HEATED SEATS etc will be a boring interior compared to the H2.
CON:
3- The H3 Door panel config is HORRIBLE compared to the H2 (at least for now).
CON:
4- POWER on the H3 is lacking.
PRO:
5- The H3 off-roads better than any Stock H2 in my opinion and experience. Not in all aspects but because of its size and weight it ia a more able vehicle.
CON:
6- The H2 commands respect, where the H3 is mocked on a regular basis (Ba$tards) or is compared to a colorado/canyon and JEEP.
PRO:
8- Did I mention the H3 is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better on GAS and CHEAPER to fill up :-)
PRO:
9- The H3 Parks Easier (Already Said)
PRO:
10: The H3 fits better in ramp garages.
PRO:
11. The H3 climbs very well where the H2 is a bit high torqued and causes slippage.
CON:
12. The H2 is the only Hummer in my opinion that does not creak and squeak. The H3 sounds like its going to fall apart.
REGRETS: I got rid of my H1's :-(( and I do not like the interior of the H3, I like my H2 cab and large open space.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I drove both for a while. They each have their positives and negatives. RYD hit some of mileage ones. If you want something more for driving around the city, then get the H3. Your off-road abilities will be little changed from the H2 (maybe better ).

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I have done the change from H2 to H3 and back to H2 and than H3 and than H2 and H3 and than.......
Here's my 2 cents....
If you want a compact truck that offers better parking and is better on those very narrow Jeep trails, go with the H3.
If you have family, dogs, and/or kids, you may miss the room you currently have with the H2.
The H2 is more of a lux vehicle with way plush seats and has a softer ride..esp. for long distance.
The H3 isn;t bad either on those trips with the Lux interior, but if you swap to 35's (a must if you plan to off road it IMO), than your mpg will go down hill fast. I get worse MPG in my H3 than I do on my lifted H2.
Both trucks have their pros and cons.
I wish they made an H2 1/2.
I enjoy the drive in both trucks. I do prefer the H3 on the local CO trails. Bur I prefer the H2 in Moab since we take the dogs, camping gear, and MTN Bikes. If you have a roof rack on the H3, that help a ton...as long as you don;t hit rain or snow on the way out.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
The other thing that is driving me crazy is the price of the H3's. I dont buy new cars but the price of used H3's is almost the price of a new one. If they were $20K I wouldnt blink an eye but for a used one its $28-low 30's and just about the same price as brand new.
Do the H3's have all the basic engine mods such as a K&N intake, etc?
Do other H3's owners do "the wave" like some H2 people?
On another note:
I was talking to a guy at the H dealer the other day and we discussed the rumor of a V8 and pickup truck H3. He pointed out that by the time you drop a V8 in an H3 its going to get the same mpg as a Suburban so whats the point, interesting thought. The other interesting point was about the pickup truck rumor. He says GM is struggling because they dont think people will want to pay $30k+ for a pickup when you can go get a basic Ford or Chevy for under $20k.

The used H3 market is real good for selers now cauze its in demand and not too much supply, but that will all change soon, donno how soon.
There are alot of engine mods for the H3, well not alot but some. You have intakes, exhausts, pcm, and im probably missing something else.
There wa a thread on the wave thing. Some do it. I personally dont, i dont see the point of waving to a omplete stranger soley based on teh fact that you drive the same car, what the hell does that mean, thats probably the only thing you have in common.
The are rumors of of a V8, and an H3T, and maybe the V8 will be in the Alpha, but we will see soon enough. As for the statement that fuel economy will drop if a V8 is put it I completely disagree. The mpg is not only dependent on engine size, but is mainly a factor of weight. If its an AFM V8 then there will probably be no difference at all. True the H3T might be overpriced compared to the competition, but its a HUMMER, and all hummers are overpriced compared to most of teh competition.
Just my 2 cets.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I don't do the wave thing much, but a guy in a super sweet H1 with all the goodies, waved at me the other day. I felt like a hot chick had just flashed her bewbies at me.
Thanks for the wave super sweet H1 with all the goodies guy.
I think the waving thing is great. This day and age people don't even know their neighbors, if just having the same type of car makes people want to show a nice jesture, I say right on man!
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I don't get the anti-wave thing. I live in the sticks though and everyone waves at everyone, at the bare minimum, you get the hand or fingers coming up off of the steering wheel in greeting. What's the big deal? I have noticed that H2 drivers are the ones not apt to wave. I get a highbeam flash, wave, or head nod from H3 owners. H1 owners, for the most part, look at the H3 like a chunk of gravel to be driven over. (sorry, these are just my observations of other people's actions) I kinda feel like a gomer wavin' at 'em, but hey, it's their problem, not mine.
Folks, we GOTTA wave at each other!!! It's the balance of will! It makes up for the fingers and 'fuk yous" that the Mini Cooper, Pious, Jeep, and Fuggin' Junk owners give us!
Karma man, karma. We're not strangers, we like the same vehicle. Don't be embarrassed to show a little friendliness, there's enough a-holes to counterbalance it. Don't worry, I won't hug you (my wife says it's ok to hug Humbebe though 'cause she's a cool person)

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
I own both now. I like them both. The H3 is an 07 and has a little more pickup and go than the 06. I don't like the design of the H3 fenders as putting on splash guards is a must and the GM ones do not do the job from what I hear.
I didn't get the H3 to wheel, as it's the Wife's ride - so we didn't get adventure pack. However, I am pretty impressed with it and think had we got the locker that it would do everything my H2 would do.
I'll keep my H2, but would love to have an H1 Alpha even more.

I went from an H3, which I liked a lot, to an H2 SUT, which I love.

H2 to H3 is probably rare. Most H3 sales come from people that owned other brands/vehicles.

Thinking in the same lines, H2 SUV. I miss the room I had in my large truck. The H3 is perfect for everything but room. I am having a hard time keeping the 3. I am sure it will be sold or traded in very soon.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
Last summer when gas was $3/gallon I would do anything to get out of my H2, I wanted a H3 so bad. Now that prices are "better" it doesnt bother me.
So next summer when gas is $4/gallon... I am just thinking the H3 is the better choice all around for the future. When gas is $3/gallon the value of a H2 drops so hard you couldnt give it away.
I just dont want to regret the switch. Maybe I can rent one for a month from Enterprise and see how I like it.

Thats a smart thing to do. Maybe next time your in for warranty service, ask them to rent you an H3. You probably will have it for a couple of days, but you can at least see if its worth renting one for a month, cauze that wont be cheap.
To add, I love my H3, drove an H2 for a month or so couple of months back, not mine thou. The thing I liked most, as many said, is the interior room. If you need the space keep the H2, if you dont go with the H3, get the adventure and you wont have a problem. I wasnt impressed with the power on the H2 or the looks of the interior, however the interior space was very impresive compared to the H3. If you live in a large city, like i'm in chicago, the H3 is way better than the H2, parking wise that is. Someone already mentioned parking garages, and street parking. With the H2 you will probably get more door dings because of the larger size. If you live in a suburban or rural area, the H2 is for you, dont see a problem there.
The wave thing is overrated, stop doing it! , joking, i'll give it a shot and see how it goes, since everyone for it has chimed in, i wonder where all the haters are, there were quite a few.
good luck with your decision.

Re: Has anyone switched from the H2 to the H3?
The last time I checked my H3 mileage I was getting in the mid 16's local and the one time I checked a long highway trip I got in the mid 18's.

There is one old dude in a red H2 around here that waves to me, but I thought he might be low or out of gas and want a gallon or so from me so I try not to make eye contact.
