So I'm still trying to decide on a close out 03 or a new 04. If there is any benefits to paying the extra for the 04. I emailed a dealer for a quote on an 03 he has in stock. This was his reply:

I have a once in a lifetime opportunity for you. This is a serious offer. I
have a beautiful 2003 in Sunset Orange with all the bells and whistles that
lists for over $71,000 that you can steal for just $58,673!!
I will be sending you pictures of this one-of-a- kind, 2003 H2 with the
following equipment:

Alcoa polished wheels $2,995
Chrome brush guard $1,595
Stealth Security $ 595
12 piece Chrome Billet Pkg. $2,150
(2) Hood handles
(2) Hood buckles
(2) Side intake vents
(2) Side marker bezles
(4) Side marker lights
(1) Locking gas cap
Chrome tube steps $ 995
H2 Tail light bezels $ 696
Back up camera $ 1,495
DVD-headrest monitors (2) $ 2,999
Rear tire swing $ 1,999
Total market value $71,014

I really wasn't interested in one so fully hooked up. For me, part of the fun of owning one would be doing some of the after-market enhancements myself. But this seems like it might be worth it.

Any opinions?

Most of the options listed can be divided in half and that is what you could buy them for yourself. Was the truck hard loaded with all the factory options? Most dealers do not install that many accessories on a fully loaded truck. Just make a decision and insert a huge grin on your face

I ALMOST went this rout too when I bought mine but as TBarrow states, you can do it yourself with EXACTLY what you want for 1/2 the $$. Their add on stuff mark up is outragous. Good Luck!!!

Ouch. The prices for the aftermarket items are WAY high. I like these...

Back up camera $ 1,495
DVD-headrest monitors (2) $ 2,999
Rear tire swing $ 1,999

Sure any of us would go in to business getting these $ for the listed items. Heck, the tire carrier shouldn't be more than $900 installed (and that might be high).

I'd run from this deal and don't get caught up in the hype. It's that "HYPE". You can do better!

1- This one is unusually fully loaded. Someone spent a lot of money and time on it, the 1st owner loved his Hummer. No matter how much or how little he paid for these thingies, it’s a lot of money, almost like a spoiled kid in a candy store, irresponsible spending. Since many of these are not dealer installed items, he spent a lot of energy and time to buy and add the stuffs. Someone did the hard work for you. Makes you wonder what happened? Why did he give it up?

2- You did not mention mileage, which is most important. Under 20K okay. Judged by all the chrome and toys, this was not used in offroad which is good news to buyers.

3- Chrome is not me, but all those toys are neat, I can change, I can learn to love chrome and orange.

4- $58K is a good start. My basic rule is take $10K off to talk price, after you see and test it. If you can land it at $50K or $52K which is reasonable goal, very good deal. The danger is once you see the truck and the toys, you love it so much you can‘t bargain.

5- You cannot compare this one with other Hummers, because the toys alone is worth a car. Alcoa polished wheels, Back up camera, DVD-headrest monitors (2), Rear tire swing, that is $5K no matter how you cut it. Can you imagine how much time and how many visits you have to make to buy and install these things? Days and weeks and $5K+ cash out.

6- Unlike aftermarket things you buy and install later, everything on this H2 can be financed (other people’s money), can be depreciated and claim in tax credit, which further cut your initial cost substantially.

7- When you sell it you will get top dollars for it just because of the toys.

8- By logic, this H2 was not a lemon at birth. My guess is a lot of toys were added after purchase, if it was a lemon, 1st owner would not have dumped so much time and money into it. Just guessing.

9- It is not “the chance of a lifetime” as the salesman said, but can be made into a good deal, it is “a rare opportunity.”

Some clarification on this. Here is the window sticker of the H2 in question. This is not a used one. It is new, never titled 2003. I talked to the sales rep. He said someone ordered it custom with all the previous mentioned addons, but died before it was delivered. So they are trying to unload it now. If I'm doing the math right, I'm getting $15,519 worth of dealer add-ons at their inflated retail prices for $6,173. (58,673 minus the MSRP of 55,500 without the add-ons plus the 3,000 rebate on the 2003's.) Here is the window sticker. This window sticker of course is 'before' all the previous mentioned add-ons.

Sounds like you are trying to talk yourself in too this purchase. You are the only one that you need to convence. Make a decision and live or die by it. Still...in my humble opinion, not a deal. Best of luck.

Chrome, chrome, chrome...I should have taken a pic of the whole truck...
Lots of chrome and stuff. Only one screen and it did have the hard tire cover on the swing away

Not a bad deal at all. Make an offer for $50K, settle at $55K top. Good or excellent deal.

Someone died? Mmmmm, I don't know. Do you feel lucky? I have limits, one of them is to stay alive. You can laugh all you want, but I a little superstitous, the guy upstairs has been extremely nice ot me, I don't push my luck.
