I was rude tonight

I know I was rude but geez, why do employees at electronics stores think you're stupid? We went to Best Buy to pick up either a Blu Ray player or a PS3 since we have HD but a lot of movies we want are only on Blu Ray. So we ended up with a PS3 since they're basically the same price and I can play games too (although nothing beats the xBox 360).

I found Pan's Labyrinth in Blu Ray and I had purchased it before in HD. A couple of movies lock up on HD and Pan's is one of them. I even read the reviews on Amazon about The Host (also locks up) and it wasn't our player, others had to send theirs back. So anyway....

I wanted to ask if any of them knew if Pan's Labyrinth would lock up in Blu Ray maybe before I bought it. Just in case it was something to do with the disc. Just being safe and all so I didn't have to return it...again. (I have it on regular DVD)

Me to geek squad: Who would I ask about a playability issue with a Blu Ray movie? (holding up said movie)

Geek squad: Well, first you'd have to own a Blu Ray player.

Me: I know that, I'm not stupid and that wasn't my question.

Okay so I was rude but sheesh...do I look stupid? I know you have to own a player first. I should have said..."Oh geez, you mean to tell me that for $37 this won't play and look all pretty without spending another $500? What a rip off!"

happened to me at best buy to! i go to by myself some movie in blu-ray so the guys do you have a blu-ray player i just answered yes cuase i figured they ask it to everyone cause a lot of people are stupid like that. so the guys like "your sure you have a blu-ray player and not just a dvd or an hd dvd player" i was like ya im sure, hes like "you 100% sure which one do you have" i was like the PS3 the guys like oh okay so your not the only one

Doesnt sound too bad to me. Go spend a week in Manhattan. By the end of your trip youll be so fed up with the attitudes you will have learned what it mean to truly be rude....well at least it worked for me.

Pan's Labyrinth is such an excellent movie. The ending was a tear jerker.

I never knew Americans enjoyed foreign movie cultures. Hmmm...I've learned something today.

No you weren’t rude. You asked him a simple direct question and his limited intelligence and comprehension that causes him to work at Best Buy warranted said stupid response. And as a person of average or above average intelligence, you responded correctly by scolding him to recognize his place.

I would have told him; never mind, just be a good boy and go get my PS3 ok?

Are you kidding? I love foreign movies. I've seen most all of Guillermo Del Torro's movies, I have a huge asian horror collection (all subtitled), etc. It depends on the movie to me, not where it's from. I'm all over the chart. I love blockbusters and love Indie films alike. A couple of my favorite movies are Jurassic Park and Titanic but also The Magdalene Sisters and House of Sand and Fog.

When I bought my son's PS3 for Christmas, the Best Buy guy that sold it to me said not to play Blu Ray moives with it, that doing so would cause problems for the PS3. I don't know squat about this kind of stuff, I even hardly knew what Blu Ray was. Was this guy just blowing smoke up my a$$?

It should be fine. We play HD all the time in our Xbox HD player. This is all I could find on it so far.
PS3 owners have been complaining on the official PlayStation 3 (PS3) forums about problems that the 1.5 system firmware upgrade have caused their systems. Mainly the problems seem to focus around Blu-ray movie playback freezing, as well as freezing during gameplay. There are also problems with wireless internet and controllers reported.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM......not sure. I am going to have to defer to my fellow Dr's at my practice to determine if this is acceptable as proof of whether you look stupid....
