Homelink wiring question
Just took delivery of H3 number two (black). The only option I truly miss on this one is the homelink visor. I know they pulled it from the lux shortly after I purchased my birch white last year, but was wonderring if the wiring is still in place on the lux post-removal?
I wouldn't mind buying the visor, but would like to avoid tearing out the headliner and splicing if possible.

Re: Homelink wiring question
Really doubt if the wiring would still be present, especially on the new ones. There really isn't much to wiring it.
For original wiring:
Tap into the footwell courtesy lamp orange wire, and run it up the A-pillar to the corner where the visor installs. The ground wire from the visor can be connected to any of the grounds already in the A-pillar. The original wiring was part of the Inadvertent Power supply...in other words, if the vehicle is shut off, and there is no switch movement or key movement in twenty minutes, the BCM shuts down the circuit to save the battery.
I would guess it would be a half-hour to an hour at the longest.

I was looking at some bulletins earlier today and saw one about homelink and was cureous so I looked at it...The wiring is not there but it told how and where to splice..you did have to drop headliner "by the book" to splice it in.

Re: Homelink wiring question
Switched power and ground is all you need. If you have a lit mirror in the visor you can use that for power.

Re: Homelink wiring question
kodiakz is correct; all you need is power and ground, and the only part of the headliner that would have to be dropped is the front left corner. Just be careful, don't bend it, and it is easy to drop a corner.
All vehicles come with the auto dimming mirror, so there is power in the A-pillar molding.

Re: Homelink wiring question
If you are looking for a garage remote,I bought this one last year.
It hooks up to your high beem lights, all you do is flic your high beams and the door opens. No need to take your hands off the wheel. It works great.
This one is pin style they also make one if you have other type of remote.
Easy install. If you need a mirror just use the rear view.
