has anybody had the dealer replace the cracked rails on the top? and if you did....have the new ones been any better? also....has anyone had the radio replace due to the paint chipping off the buttons, and....did the new radios paint last any longer than the first time around? Im just woundering if this is a endless battle until they do a recall or what they called a "fix".

Here you go....

Roof Cracks

Dunno about the radio, but as long as it is under warranty....doesn't matter.

I think we have about a dozen threads going right now about the cracked roof rails but HummBebe's link should help you out. As far as the radio button are concerned, there was some discussion about this some time ago. As I recall there were a few that had theirs replaced.

Excellent idea. I'm waiting for the fix, and that will include new A-Pillar moldings that do not overlap the rails like they should.

Testing has shown, installtion of the exiting rails will crack just like the ones from the factory.

No surprise guys. This reminds me of when I bought the Blazer ZR2 when it first came out. The plastic oversized fender flares where so thin, that they were warping in the heat and pulling away from the body of the vehicle. Many complain, but GM didn't fix it. It's a Simple fix. GM could invest in thicker plastic and this wouldn't happen. Did they? I don't think so. Same problem here. The plastic used is too thin or cheap. Another GM quality part. This is why they continue to lose customers. I'll still probably buy the H3 full well knowing what I am getting myself into.

Glad to hear you are so knowledgeable on the reason they are cracking, but this problem is not an issue with the plastic being too thin. If that was the problem, they would be cracking all the way down the side, versus basically in one area only.
