Ticking noise
Yesterday, i was just finished de-chroming the H2 and when i start the truck...i heard a ticking noise...it was coming from the right engine side....opened the hood....low and behold....it's the famous manifold bolt that we're broke off (the last one) . I thought GM corrected this issues especially on 2008 model. Well, the truck warranty is over and i have to deal with this....questions for you good folks here is....which bolts should i use...updated oem or the fastenal (11115929)....Does ARP makes exhaust manifold bolts for our truck?....or any best bolts suggestions.....so i can fix this problem right the first time.

Re: Ticking noise
yea, its the same kit used on all the lsx series motors also.
You know snapping the rear bolt on these exhaust manifolds makes me think the exhaust/Y pipe/cat doesn't have enough flex/give in it. When the motor torques the most stress is going to be on the back of that manifold.

Re: Ticking noise
i think you're right, not enough flex on the exhaust....gm parts guy told me that it happen often also on their pick-up trucks as well . FAILED engineering.

Re: Ticking noise
With out looking I dont remember what the 1st exhaust hanger is, but if its a solid mount, it might be worth changing over to a strap type so it has a little give to it.
