The OEM low profile light bar, can the lights be upgraded to HID's
Can the lights be upgraded to HID's? If not, can I get brighter aftermarket bulbe? One of mine has burned out and I have not taken a look to see if the buld is replaceable or do I have to replace the whole light itself. Thanks,

Re: The OEM low profile light bar, can the lights be upgraded to HID's
Hi i would say you can't upgrade that light bar to hid because their is no place really to mount the ballasts plus the light housing itself may not be deep enough for a hid bulb. Also no one that i know of makes a internal ballast hid light small enough to replace your light housing only. Their is one or two companys that make a HID light bar but they are not cheap. I would just change the bulbs to higher watt bulb but you must make sure the wiring is heavy enough 14gauge with handle about 35 amps. Check and see what bulb is in your light bar. Are you sure its a OEM light bar? Maybe i can find out what bulb is in there for you or someone on the forum may have the same light bar and know the bulb thats in yours. My MC2 light bar uses h7 bulbs it came with 4x 55 watt bulbs that use 4.5 amps each. I changed them to 100 watt bulbs that use 7.5 amps each and i used 14 gauge wire and i changed the fuse to a 30 amp from a 25 amp so its will not pop the fuse. Hope this helps.

Delta Tech Lighting Makes HID Light Bar that is same as OEM Light bar (meaning same 4 light layout with same Lens and Set Up)
Maybe you can call them and ask if you could buy their bulbs and ballast. They put their Ballast inside the bar , so not sure if its special size or what.

You will PAY for that Delta bar, around $1600 +shipping. That being said, I've always been impressed with Delta products and I'm sure the bar puts out some nice light.

Yeah i wish anyone who has one or has seen the HID bar would comment on it being worth such a price. I did see this in their listings, must be new.

Delta developed an HID powered Grill Light Bar which mounts in front of the grill. The Grill Light Bar comes with a triple H.I.D. light system which draws less than 9 Amps producing an awesome power of near daytime illumination.
The HID Grill Light Bar is equipped with three waterproof HID long range lights, encased in a 13 ga. Steel Bar with aiming capability. The Bar comes with a complete installation OEM Harness with a relay and switch.
Weight: 8 lb.

Re: The OEM low profile light bar, can the lights be upgraded to HID's
Hi how wide is a roof crossbar for a stock h2? I have never seen one up close and measured it doesn't it have a reinforcement through the center? The slim line ballast that I sell for bikes is 2 1/2 inches wide so maybe it will fit. HID bulbs are usally 1/4 to 1 inch longer than a normal bulb because of how long the bulb it is, I wouldn't convert it if they are all plastic housings and lenses it maybe to close and melt. If their glass lenses and aluminum housing it would be fine. Maybe i will check my MC2 light bar and see if their is enough room inside for the ballast to convert mine. My lenses are glass and housing are aluminum. I have 5 hid lights already on the front of my truck. If i convert my roof light bar that would be 9 HID lights, can i say AIRCRAFT LANDING LIGHTS.

Wow that led looks cool. I wonder how the light is on those. Does it project far or is it more like flood light? What is color of light? How does the brightness compare to say 10x bar? I would love to see a pic of that type of bar in action especially at night!

They are insane!!! clear/ white light. The 10x delta bar is bright, but nothing compared to a 40" or 50" LED bar. The harness is only a couple wires vs the 20 needed for a multi light setup. The power draw is next to nothing as well.
