Where Is The Factory Installed XM Antenna..??
Since my rig didn't have XM.. I had it installed at the dealer. Just noticed the other day that the XM antenna is stuck on the center of the roof about 3 " or so back from the windshield rubber.
It's about 3" in diameter 1/4'' or so high and has a 3/16" black wire that runs from under the anttena across the roof to and under the rubber molding around the windshield.
Is the factory antenna in the windshield..??
When I get the marker lamps installed I wonder if I can palce it over the antenna to hide that hiddious black acne blemish...

You should be able to move it no problem. Mine is like a little black antenna that is a magnet and sticks to the roof. Try and keep it on the roof and you will get the best signal.

Re: Where Is The Factory Installed XM Antenna..??
Hmmmm good question. I have no idea where it is. I know the gps for the navigation is actually one of the little cut out looking things on the dash and the onstar is cellular antenna on the roof. xm antenna could be on the dash to i supose.

the antena over the passenger is a dual antenna, xm and onstar. even if you didnt have xm from factory i think there is still a lead that is just hanging over the glove box area (where the airbag stuff is). you will probably be able to use that instead of adding a new one( i realize its already done, but you can remove your old one). but if it is there (the lead) you might have to midify it a bit, there are litle channels on the receiver plug and thing sticking out of the lead plug which you might have to cut or shave off. i think someone asked the same question somewhere else on this forum a bit ago.

Re: Where Is The Factory Installed XM Antenna..??
I was having a problem with my puter when I tried to search this topic from the beginning. But it's working now.
I did find some info on this ....there is a XM feed wire off the OnStar antenna.. So now all I have to hope for is that the dealer didn't drill a hole to mount that black disc.

Re: Where Is The Factory Installed XM Antenna..??
Not all of the warts GM uses for antennas have all the leads. If you have the wart with the little dingy antenna on top, most likely there is an XM lead (and the dealer should have known). Possibly there was no lead.
The little wart on the tri-mode antenna contains the XM and the Onstar GPS, and the little antenna sticking up from the wart is the cell antenna for Onstar.

I don't see no picture.
If there is a whine with the dealer installed XM, then they did something wrong.

Also.. would the dealer parts dept have the correct number for the GPS/Onstar/XM antena Wart ..? I'll order the correct unit in myself if the one I have is not right.

Re: Where Is The Factory Installed XM Antenna..??
If you see an earily model Colorado with XM and Onstar, they had seperate antennas. Right before the H3 went into production, they went to a single combined antenna. But I think if you don't get XM, it's only a Onstar antenna. But that will change as XM will be standard on H3's before the end of the month of January, and we build very few without Onstar.

Well... I'll probably buy the correct XM/Onstar antenna . The problem is installing it. I guess I'll have to leave that up to the dealer. I know my way around electronic circuits and Auto electrial but with out a manual and not knowing what's behind the Glove box it would be folish for me to attemp to start ripping things apart.
Air bag wiring and sensors could be waithing their like a land mine waiting for me to screw up not to mention poping a connectors lose and wondering Where TF is was connected.
