thinking of getting a corvette Z06?or not.
Anyone have one? I have been a long time fan of well not chevy, well not even american. My hummer is my first american car that I bought and I love it. I was planning on getting another BMW the new m3 but I started to look around and the z06 looks like a beast. I have been in corvetted before and they are nice, but the z06 looks freekin crazy.
anyway if your going to spend 75K for a sports car is this the one to get? any opinions from vette lovers and haters would be mucho apreciated.thanks
Dennis

Personally, I'd take a Beemer over a Z06...

Yeah, but you're a newborn with NO real world experience.
As much as I love BMWs, the new M3 is almost an also-ran before it has even hit the street.

The 'vette's a monster and I'd get one in a heart beat.... However, I'd kill myself in it.

Uhh, I guess so...
My dad used to have a BMW 5-series though, and I really liked it. A Corvette just doesn't do it for me as much as a BMW.
To each his own, I guess.

WTF does a 5-series BMW have to compare with a ZO6? A few extra seats, which gives more people a better view of the rear taillamps on the ZO6.
As for the ZO6, it is not as civilized as a regular C6 corvette. So, if you are planning on any road trips, I would suggest the C6, and then you can cruise with the top off or top down (Coupe or convertible). But, if you are looking to spank 97% of the cars that pull up next to you; the ZO6 is the way to go. The ZO6 is the second fastest car I have ever driven. Awesome, but dangerous to my wallet.
(Or wait a few years and get a Vette that will spank the ZO6 for 99,999.99)

Get the vette. Test drive one and you will buy it. No comparison and a much better value apples to apples.

Re: thinking of getting a corvette Z06?or not.
As far as dollars for performance in a production car the Z06 is the clear winner.
If you want something different and faster for the same money then look at this....

Personally I'd love to build an Ultima, maybe one day I'll have the time and money at the same time to do it.

Speed, I drove one about a year ago. Fu(king insane, is all that needs to be said about that car. I've been thinking about one for myself lately.

Personally, I think you should drive a Z06 then let us know if you would still rather have a BMW.

Re: thinking of getting a corvette Z06?or not.
Only downside to the Z06 is no removable top. You can get a fully loaded C6 (convertible or coupe) do the Z06 widebody conversion, throw in a supercharger, exhaust, headers, and tune for less than a Z06. You'll be making more RWHP than the Z06 and still have money to spare vs buying a Z06. Just an idea.

Re: thinking of getting a corvette Z06?or not.
There is a dealer here in KC that has an '07 Velocity Yellow that they're selling under MSRP. Has 500 miles on it. They gave people rides in it around Kansas Speedway. Never been over 80 MPH (at least that's what the dealer says.)

Re: thinking of getting a corvette Z06?or not.
There are a couple dealers that sell them at or below MSRP. Most of the smaller dealers are still using the "market adjustment" mark-up crap and charging 5-10k over MSRP. If you want info on some dealers that are selling at MSRP or less let me know. I think one even offers free transportation of the vehicle to your house.
