FJ Crash Scores
IIHS.org FJ Cruiser Crash Scores
Well, the FJ pretty much aced the front and side tests, but was only marginal in the rear (which is common). So let's see how many kids end up in these now...
I tried to make this as clear as possible. I couldn't copy the tables unfortunately.
However, it's interesting to compare the injury measures between the IIHS and NHTSA. The FJ has significantly higher injury measures in the NHTSA:
H3 WITHOUT SAB:
Frontal Crash
Driver / Passenger
Head Injury Criterion 508 / 579
Chest Deceleration (g's) 39 / 41
Femur Load l/r1 (lbs) 528/655 / 910/828
1not used in calculating frontal star rating
Side Crash
Front seat / Rear seat
Head Injury Criterion2 (HIC) 48 / 157
Thoracic Trauma Index (TTI) 16 / 26
Pelvis Deceleration2 (g's) 18 / 20
2not used in calculating side star rating
Toyota FJ Cruiser WITHOUT SAB:
Frontal Crash
Driver / Passenger
Head Injury Criterion 386 / 444
Chest Deceleration (g's) 42 / 47
Femur Load l/r1 (lbs) 468/295 / 465/619
1not used in calculating frontal star rating
Side Crash
Front seat / Rear seat
Head Injury Criterion2 (HIC) 73 / 459
Thoracic Trauma Index (TTI) 32 / 26
Pelvis Deceleration2 (g's) 62 / 15
2not used in calculating side star rating

Re: FJ Crash Scores
Are higher numbers better (safer)? Either way, the H3 and FJ both got the same overall safety rating .... 5 stars for everything except passenger frontal collision (4 stars).
I noticed the H3 got slightly higher SSF (static stability factor) than the FJ (1.12 vs 1.10), which is good.

Lower numbers are better for all of those measurements I think.

Yes, but an H3 isn't a rebadged Jiffy-Pop tin either.
