Default need more dampening

i need more dampening from my front shocks, right now im using rancho adjustables and even on setting 9 there too soft. I bounce down the road and i can tell my tires are wearing faster since iv put them on.

can you use fabtech or rancho dual shock hoops without there lift kit?
i know cognito has a dual shock kit aswell but theres only works with there control arms and i dont want to level it with 35's.

If i cant find a working dual shock kit then ill have to bite the bullet and buy new shocks. How are the bilstiens? how about fox? can you adjust fox shocks to ride firm?

iirc you will need the Cognito Upper COntrol arm in order to use the Dual shock hoop.

i have the bilstiens that i bought with the Cognito UCA.
i like them, but im like you that i woudl preffer a firmer ride.

im no expert on shocks, or can really tell you between a good one and a bad one.
i bought these because i know with the UCA, and T bars cranked that my stock ones were maxed out.. but i liked the firmness of how the maxed out stock ones were....

no experience with other brands.

i may upgrade to the dual shock hoop at some point, but i am chasing a pulling problem that i want solved first.

Get the Fabtech 2.0's. Pricey, but worth it. I have them on my SUT, and the service manager has commented that it's the best riding, lifted truck he's ever driven.

Fox's ride nice, there are not soft at all, you can always have them rebuilded and tuned to your specs.

This is surprising for I've used the dirt logics, bilstiens and the Rancho 9000 XL Pro Series shocks which I'm currently running now. The Ranchos were by far the best overall shocks for on road and down in Moab IMO. The shocks have a lifetime warranty so maybe try switching them out for new ones before you spend the money on a new set?

I am willing to bet that your bouncing is due to bad Pitman or Idler arm (most likely the Idler arm) and not the shocks. With a worn out idler arm, the front wheels will have bump steer and cause significant front end bouncing as a result. Trust me on this - been there, done that!

Ask yourself this - what happens when you bounce an IFS front end? Answer, the wheels toe in and toe out. Now ask yourself what would be the result if the wheels toe'd in and toe'd out (worn pitman or Idler or both). Answer, the front end would have increased bounce!

thanks for all the info!

haha hot damn tomp your right on the money. i am workin on replacing and beefing up my steering but i still have my moog idler and cognito idler kit sitting in the garage. when i install those 2 the front end will noticably tighten up?

just an update for people who may have the same bouncy problem has me. replaced the idler today (plus alignment) and the front end REALLY tightend up. the ranchos ride nice, still a bit soft for my tastes but they ride good.

ok so heres a new update a few months later.

when i replaced my idler/pitman the front end tightend up but over a couple weeks started to get some bounce back on the front end.
i added cognito steering kit and wow, the front end tightend up and the the ride was bounceless up front.
after a few weeks the the bounceyness up front has crept back. iv double checked to make sure the pitman/idler and cognito brackets were tight.

what keeps my front end bouncing? im about to go to the stealership in a week to get there thoughts. im thinking the idler(not the idler arm) may have worked loose or is worn??? or possibly the centerlink???

i want to know yalls thoughts just so the dealership doesnt take me for a ride.
