Hi all...this is from my previous post on the transmission noise. Well, this has finally been resolved. Come to find out there was a pinon in the rear differential that was installed wrong at the factory causing slop, noise and vibration. Everything seemed to be loose and just about ready to fail. They will have it for a week waiting for parts and everything will be replaced minus the axle. So, this problem might come up on some other H3's and wanted to give everyone a heads up. Hopefully this will not happen to any one else. I'm grateful they are finally getting this fixed.....

Is your's an early build? They had problems with the rear axles on some of the first models. Evidently, someone at Eaton left lapping compound on the gear set, and over a period of time, this ground the gears.

Yup, mine had a complete rear axle replacement because of the leftover lapping compound. My H3 was an early build.

How can I check on my H3 if it was an "early build?"

Mine is an early build. What is the noise like? What should I be looking out for?

It is a whining noise that gets louder at about 45+ mph. I had the problem back in July. They swapped the dif with another new vehicle to avoid making me wait for parts. It has been fine since.
