My interior was starting to get a little old looking. Purchased new OEM leather seat covers for all of the seats upper and lower as well as new foam pads for the fron lower seats. Rear seats took anywhere from 1/2 to an hour each and front seats about 4 hours each. Was a lot of work but am I glad it is done. Now the truck looks 100% new again!
Wow, great job. I plan on keeping my truck for a long while as well. I really keep up appearences by detailing her quite often. But I really cant help the wear that seats get from getting in and out etc. I bought mine used and although in superb shape, the previouse owner didnt detail or treat any of the leather .If I had the truck since new the leather would look alot better than it does. So i fiond your post extremely interesting as I feel I will be doing the same a few years from now. May I ask where you purchased your pieces from and how much the replacement OEM pieces were? Great job man and enjoy the brand new interior!
From GM. List price for all of the pieces was about $2800 before tax. Would have looked at aftermarket but could not find anything that had the heated modules in the seat. The OE has the heating elements sewn directly into the seat. Some have said that you could salvage the element and use in an aftermarket cover but after seing one of them I am unsure this would be possible. Love your color as well!!!!
It is near impossible to take out elements. What you do is if you want aftermarket you by OEM elements for Chevy Silverado. You glue them or as my Upholstery guy did was just place them as he worked leather down onto seats. This way if you still have bench in second row you can add back warmers to go with regular cushion elements. Nice thing is they do not cost much. He uses them in many applications even completetly custom work.
I have a post with part numbers you need here someplace. I converted my 2005 second row to factory OEM captains 2006 and had custom leather put in. There should be pics of this with my complete interior conversion with a 12" touchscreen in center dash plus other stuff. I think the part #'s were seperate forum than picture section.
