New Owner - Battery Question
So, I just picked up my H2 a few days ago and I couldn't be happier.
The previous owner had an aftermarket stereo system in the car. Before I took posession of the car the guy removed all his stereo stuff and put the factory system back in the car. He did however leave the battery he purchased. He mentioned that I need to get a smaller bolt to bolt down the terminal than the one that is currently in the battery. It can't tighten down enough and the terminal could possibly come loose. I'm bringing the car in this week to get a shorter bolt put in. My questions is do I want/need the battery he put in there or should I remove what he put in and bring it back to stock? Pics below & thanks in advance.

what kind of hot wire cable is that that has the voltage reading on it? Never seen one of those, quite nice.

Re: New Owner - Battery Question
I can check the cable and see if there is a brand or model on it. Its pretty neat... there's a little switch you flip to see the stats. Previous owner gets credit for it.

Are you kidding? That's a dual Optima yellow top set-up. You aren't going to do any better than that! If you go off road, that's a nice power source for an electric winch. Keep it! Replace the bolt or shim it with washers but DO NOT trade those batteries for a factory one (unless, of course you do the trade with me LOL).

Re: New Owner - Battery Question
I would switch that battery setup right away ( I have a stock one I could send you free of charge in exchage for those not original ones).
Congrats on your new rig

Re: New Owner - Battery Question
Thanks for the feedback everyone. So, the truck is only pulling from one battery and the second battery is for accessories (winch, lights, etc.) that I have on the truck? Just wanted to make sure I understand everything...
In regards to the washers... Do I need any special kind? I just keep putting them on until it tightens down? How tight should I screw it down? Also, is there any danger in messing with the terminal or is it a safe do-it-yourselfer?
Thanks again...

By having 2 you have doubled the capacity and available amperage compared to 1. But if you run the system down with the engine off (which is hard to do with 2 yellow tops) You will need a jump. You have no isolated back-up. A good auto-electric shop could put in an isolator for you if you really want one.

Also, is there any danger in messing with the terminal or is it a safe do-it-yourselfer?Just look at how much free space there is on the existing bolt. Then stack the washers a tiny bit thicker, so that it all can tighten firmly.
Thanks again...

Sure.

Where can you buy a yellow top, and how much more expensive are they than a regular set-up? Is it worth the money? Thanks....Jamie

Re: New Owner - Battery Question
Jamie, you can get them in many places including Sears and sometimes Costco. About $175 seems to be the going street price these days. You know what they say, "Opinions are like ashholes, everybody's got one." I happen to think that yellow tops are great.
