Wheel size decipher???
Can anyone explain the wheel dimensions as far as the end letter code goes?
The sticker inside my door jam has info on the tire size, psi, and rim size.
what I don't know is what the letter at the end stands for.
For example...
My tire size is 285/75/16 C
My rim size is 7.50 X 16 J
I have a trailer that has rim size 5.50 X 16 F
What are these letters on the ends of the sizes? C, J, F ???

Not correct....
On a truck tire, labeled LT, the letter following the tire size is the load rating and pertains to the number of plys.
On other tires, the load range consists of two numeric characters followed by the speed rating.
In addition, there is NO "C" speed rating.

f5,
As I read him he's asking what the letter means on the rim, not the tire.

Re: Wheel size decipher???
Markings on the rim "J" indicate the name designation of the bead to bead rim contour which defines dropwell dimensions and also defines the tire part of the flange.
Tire and Rim Association defines these in their Yearbook, along with tire size information and valve types.
There are many many many different contour types...
