A Chinese equity firm is said to be interested in hummer
This may be bitter sweet boys. Looks like our hummer brand is going to be purchased by a private equity firm in china. I just saw the headline on bloomberg.

Will it be as bad as when Ford bought Land Rover?
buying =/= manufacturing
Maybe these guys will have the balls to let the designers & engineers actually build something the public wants? The GM bean-counters sure didn't.

Perhaps they'll build it for their market first and then import it over here.

Re: A Chinese equity firm is said to be interested in hummer
If a Chinese company buys it, will it still be sold in America or will it only be available in China? Also, could part of the deal mean keeping Hummer dealers open in America?

Re: A Chinese equity firm is said to be interested in hummer
Guys do not panic about this stuff. You have to keep in mind that anyone that buys Hummer cannot afford to just all of a sudden by the name tool up factories say in China and be off to the races. You have to keep in mind there are assets involved here, substantial assets. I mention already about certain interests back last spring about to buy Hummer and they saw what was about to happen and pulled back.
Anyone that buys Hummer is not going to dump the base support to which they themselves need to keep permanently the Hummer operation functioning. They need USA buyers and workers. They will most likely build plants in China but, it will produce a different type of line of rigs. They will I see build and sell the fool out of H3's in China and Asia. I mean I can look and place a strategy for them that would be so simple but, make them a butt load of money.
So do not wig out. I could be wrong but, then again they would be so bad stupid it would be sad.
Be ready as China is not the only offer that will come up just as I mentioned in another thread when this was brought up. I think Mahindra from India will look at getting back in the picture along with a few others once they see some serious movement.
Main thing is anyone that does not use the established assets to launch with, well I do not see how they make it unless they got money to burn. Plus I just do not see any buyer dropping the USA market buy not building Hummers in plants already standing.

good post. i guess you're right. why would they buy something and not sell in america. my main concern is about warranty. if the brand sells, does gm have to honor warranties? i don't want my rig to break down and have no way of fixing it. thanks taz.
