Temp did not change at all.......hit the highway after I did it and got stuck in a major traffic jam.....stop & go for about thirty minutes......
By the idiot guage, I could see no change.....
Off of Ebay, stainless steel at $250 plus a refundable core deposit for the lower $100 from segrilles@msn.com
Shipping was free........
I'm nothing more than a baling wire, chewing gum mechanic and it only took twenty minutes....

Did you have to remove the hood or just pop it open to install?
It looks great.
The guy on Ebay also suggests the mesh helps keep bugs/rocks out of the radiator.

The grill guard had to come off then you take out the grill......very easy to do, four bolts and it pops out...put the stainless steel "mesh" in from the front, put the grill back on, and bolt up the new and the old......and put the grill guard back on........
Piece of cake, even for a duffer like me!!
Hit a bird last evening right at one of the grill slots, the new piece kept it from going thru....

Hey MisterEd, I got the same grill gaurd. I could not get in there to put those four self taping screws in, so I just used some nylon ties. How did ya go about that?

JohnnyBoy........
Just positioned the stainless steel, put the front grill back on, then drilled four starter holes for the self tapping screws to hold the stainless. Then just used my ratchet & socket to put the self tappers in...
Couldn't see any other way it could be done........but I'm sure a "real" mechanic might come up with something different! :-)

The way the holes in the stainless steel lined up I could not do that... If I had, I would have had a gap at the top that showed from the front........but you're right, much cleaner and easier!!!
I have had no change in temperature at all, works just fine.............

No holes lined up for me as well. I find it very difficult to get to the sides to drill anything. Did you take the hood off, because I have to be a master at yoga and be more flexable than a stripper to get in there.

Hey the Dremel is a great idea, didn't think of that!!
I took a couple pieces of rubber fuel line, split them open, and then slipped them over those braces to separate the stainless from them...worked fine, too......

Mr. Ed - Go to local U-Haul and get a nice black plug for that ugly hole in the hitch. They're $1.50 ea. You'll want one for the back, too. They also keep the hummingbirds out.

Chux.......
Thanks for the words of wisdom!!
You found anywhere when you can buy a plug for the hole in the front bumper above the hitch?
I can't find any big enough at Lowe's or Home Depot or any of the local auto stores....
Them little "hummers" can be real beasts, too!! :-)

Mac....
Thanks for the help....Chux was right about Uhaul... $1.25 plus tax... no front license in Georgia so found an automotive fastener at Lowe's for the license plate bracket...then used a 1 inch black plug with a plumbing oring around it to fill the top hole.....now if I could just find a place for that piece of wire and chewing gum I have left....... the project would be "complete"..
