Default Real life gas mileage?

I'm just tired how everyone is bashing gas mileage of a Hummer. I do not own one yet (ready to buy a used '08, looking at options), but my wife's '05 Toyota Sequoia gets 11-12 MPG in a suburban/city driving, so it can't be much worse than that, right?

I have an 08 with 35" toyo open country mt tires on it and I average around 11.5 mpg, but with the stock tires I got closer to 13 mpg. Go for the 08! I had an 05 h2 before and loved it, but the 08 has tons of power and the interior is awesome! Good luck!

Dont let other people influence you with the negative feedback. Get what YOU want. I get around 10-11 but again I am running a lift and 37" tires. Before I had the lift I put the K&N intake and power programmer and averaged about 13-14.

Oh, I would have been looking to get '08 H2 even if it was 7 MPG

I've had H2s for over six years now and of course mileage is going to depend on how you drive, but my '03 averaged in the 11s with aggressive tires, and my fairly stock '06 SUT gets in the high 11s in the city and 12 to mid 13s on the highway - over 70 mph my mileage falls back to the 11s on the highway. These figures include around 75,000 miles of driving in our two H2s. Magazine reports and those on this site, seem to indicate the '08 and '09 with the 6 speed get about 14% better mpg.

When mine was new, I averaged 10 MPG running 80 on the interstate. Now, with 25K on her, I'm up to 13. It's still averaging 10 around town, but my air is always on!

I drive without A/C 99% of the time, I love windows down. So in Florida I drive with air only when picking kids up.

If you want good gas milage by a SMART OR MINI coupe.

If you want to have fun in the best 4X4 ever made buy the Hummer. If you can't pay for the extras you don't buy the toys.

I've owned three H2's so far and they all average around 11 MPG around town. My wife's trailblazer gets 12 MPG around town and her 08 CTS gets about 15 MPG around town. Unless you go with some little econobox nothing gets really "good" mileage.

12.4 Average on my 06 SUT.

I work 14 miles from my house, not that bad - but still a pain, and stop and go traffic the whole way. I don't like putting miles on it for work, so I bought a old civic for 1900 bucks. That little hunk of junk gets me around 36 miles to the gallon. So its good for going back and forth to work.

Leaves the fun driving to the H2!

I get about 12mpg on my 06 SUT.

Throwing 37" tires on didn't help gas mileage....but you do what you have to to keep your Friends of Opec membership current.

Get a solid 11.5-12.5 mpg (I check on most fill ups). Best I have ever done was 13.24. I am leaving tomorrow for a road trip from Chicago to Florida so I will get to see true highway mileage as I have never been on a road trip without having a trailer in tow. I did manage 12.5MPG towing my 2 place PWC trailer down to Lake of the Ozarks 2 years ago (about 2,000 lbs total trailer weight).

I for the most part drive the truck easy, getting into the pedal really doesnt produce much more in the way of speed so there is no reason to mash the gas. If I want to go fast I will drive my Z06

Yes, the same here, I have just turned 26K on my o6 and have noticed a slight increase in fuel economy, currently hanging around 13 MPG.

A lot of it depends on where you live, and how you drive. Those who live where its a lot of hills, and steep inclines, its only natural you wont get as good as fuel economy as someone who lives in northwestern Mississippi where its all flat land. On the hills, your engine is downshifting which is raising the rpms and using more fuel where as if your on flat level land, your staying in overdrive the whole time.

Some of us have heavy foots..........while others tend to drive like there is a egg under the gas pedal.

From my experience.........I use my 2008 H2 for over the road, and cruise at 60---64mph. It gets a steady 19 Miles Per Gallon driving this way. From my experience, I dont recommend the cruise control, cause when using the cruise control, it seems like it downshifts more going up the hills where as if your are using your foot, you can gently let off the pressure to keep it in overdrive.

I use my 2007 H2 for mainly local use ( driving Country Back Roads ) which I normally cruise at 50mph on. These roads are out in the middle of no where, with just fields, cows, horses, and trees, NO stopping and going at all. By driving like this, I have gotten as much as 19 miles per gallon with the 6.0 Liter.........but now that the stupid government as mandated all this ignorent ethenol in the gas.........NO vehicle gets good gas mileage now. So my 2007 normally gets around 15mpg give or take a little.

Again..........I cant stress this enough.......it all depends on HOW you drive, and what kind of land/city/town you live in. Someone who lives in a very populated area where its a lot of stop signs/red lights, traffic, your NOT gonna get the great of fuel economy.

I know I have shared this little story on here before, but before the government mandated all this stupid ethenol in our gas, I had a 2007 Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2 Liter in it, and believe it or not, got a whopping 24mpg with it. ( cruising at 60--64mph ) flat level land, country area, no red lights, no stop signs, all cruising. But in the everyday world........this is impossible.
But just wanted to share it with you all.

Proud owners of a
2007 Hummer H2 ( Yellow )
2008 Hummer H2 ( Solar Flare )

Just a suggestion.......Switch to Synthetic Oil, and use ONLY Premium **Name Brand** gas ( Shell, Chevron, or BP ) for maximum fuel economy.

The sweet spot on the 2008's are around 60mph.......any faster and your throwing dollar signs out your exhaust.
