A friend at work pointed out to me this Car and Driver article and some pissed off reader feedback.

August 2005, Car and Driver had this article about the H3:

http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=9742

November 2005, Car and Driver published these letters about the article from readers:

Pat Corcoran of Cambridge, Massachusetts wrote:
1. You are not driving a Hummer, you are driving an economy pickup truck in a Halloween costume and paying an $11,000 premium to do so.
2. Even if you, or any of the other suburban women driving the H3, planned to use these vehicles on anything more off-road than a pothole, a $24,830 Rubicon would school your $29,500 H3 on any terrain, and with $5,000 in suspension, wheel, and tire upgrades, it would do the same to your husband's $53,855 H2.
3. Hogging the road with these behemoths (mostly while talking on your cell phones) is not only dangerous and bad for the environment but also irresponsible. Aaron Robinson is right: Playing GI Joe (or, most likely, Jane) is an embarrassing insult to our troops who are dying in H1s as we speak.
(The editor added a note that says: Your argument looks especially good because that Rubicon has been discounted by $3295.)

Steve Sklute of Tallahassee, Florida wrote:
Aaron Robinson had it right about feeling uncomfortable driving the H3 while our soldiers are dying in the real thing. The H2 and H3 aren't just silly and stupid, they are sad. GM needs to make the real thing, up-armored and in quantity. Forget about the H2 and H3 plastic crap. Devote the assembly line to helping our troops, now!

Amazing that this kind of crap is allowed to be published in mainstream magazines. This is what used to be and should be reserved for those poorly circulated underground "Proud Communist" or "Eco-warrior" type newsletters. Hard to believe that any big magazine would even think about publishing that. Those opinions are absolutely rediculous.

You know, those brainless ninnies connecting people driving H3s with soldiers cracks me up and is as ridiculous as anything I've ever read. We owned a Mini S, and the mini forums were as irritating as fiberglass underwear. The Car and Driver forum has the same atmosphere. No credibility, no understanding, very little knowledge and a LOT of irritation.

Hmmm...
I am in the military and the other soldiers I was deployed with as well as those I work with on a daily basis LOVE MY H3. Sad little people with more time than brains. They love to hate that in which they dont understand. Hmmm maybe thats why there is so much racism in this world.
Well F*[< em!!!!

I wonder just how many of these Hummer hatin' dweebs sit at home and play soldier games on their X-box instead of getting out to the great outdoors.
